Do we have to tattle like high schoolers about a person that‘s not even here to defend themselves? :scratch2:
You're right. However, I wanted to correct one more misunderstanding. From now on I will be silent about it.

In other news, Aliona‘s finally gotten a sponsor! Good for her. :)

Good news! But which incompetent photographer took the portrait of her? There is too much air over her head!:laugh2:

She initially posted it with Plushy’s head cropped, then reposted another one where we can see him in full... so yeah.

I think it’s a brand that Plushenko and his family had close ties with, so I guess his connections were helpful here.
But I’m happy that Aliona finally gets to earn some money though! It’s been a long time since she should’ve had some serious sponsorships. Brands are sleeping on her.

A veerry controversial thought, I know, but people should be fans of whomever they like and want to be fans of...

And respect that not everyone has to have the same favorite and think that your favorite is curing cancer every time they wake up. :)

So quick question about how coaching works in Russia. If skaters are not allowed to leave their coach except during the transfer period (theoretically) then are coaches obligated to keep coaching them and don’t have the authority to kick them out unless it’s during the transfer period?

The transition window is for members of the national team who receive funding. All the rest train where they want and with the coach with whom they can agree. For me, only one thing is not clear. An athlete in Russia can compete exclusively as a member of a club. It is possible to change the club and in this case, it is somehow connected with the transition window. I don't know for sure.

As far as I'm aware, the transition window exists to protect coaches from financial losses. Aliona Kostornaia will compete officially as a member of Sambo 70 as a protection to Eteri. So whatever awards Aliona wins this season, Eteri will still receive the same cut she always did, even if she's not actually responsible for Kostornaia. The same would be the reverse, if Aliona had switched from Plushenko to Eteri, then Plushenko would receive all the funding. This is why Plushenko mentioned "we will make sure we handle her funding" because Eteri technically still gets all the national team funding for Aliona.

As for whether or not a coach can kick out a member of a national team outside of the transition window, I do not know. My immediate guess would be... no, unless there was some exemption and they also forfeited funding. But do not quote me on this, that's just my conjecture given how it works the other way around.

I agree... And I'll say it includes following neither the individual nor the team. To me it's not even an individual sport or team sport, just a sport. Which is why I tend to talk about jumps and programs

Why is eteri and her coach friends than whining in basically every interview how bad alyona was??

I wonder when they are finally going to tell us the rest of the Russian Cup assignments? The first Cup is just over a week away and we still do not know which assignments the juniors have.
