It's still ridiculous that Rusfed made one single exception for Kamila. Still can't wrap my brain around it.

Same here, it puts immense pressure on Kamila, it's not fair to the other junior ladies and it's not like they have a shortage of senior eligible ladies anyway. :/ But it is what it is, I'm still excited to see her and curious to see how she compares with the others.

Speaking of which, what are the rules for qualifying for Nationals? I probably missed it, but do the senior eligible juniors have to choose whether they want to try and qualify for either Senior or Junior Nationals or can they do both?

I'm not sure how they're doing it this year. Usually, junior skaters who are domestically senior-age eligible can qualify to junior nationals by competing on the JGP, and senior nationals by either qualifying to the JGP Final or competing as a senior in two events in the Russian Cup series. Since there's no JGP, it seems like junior skaters will have to compete at two junior Russian Cup events and two senior ones in order to have a chance to qualify to both nationals. Maybe national team members will get a bye?

Seems like rusfed did know for weeks that alina would not compete, probably why they only said we willsee after test skate, got the money for the tickets because they advertised Alina as one of the skaters when it was apparentky known to them that she would not be there. Could mabye be one if the reasons why kamila is actually allowed to senior test skates, becausecome one otherwise eteri only wouldhave one skater at test skates t

I have repeatedly come across mentions that this year for juniors who have qualified for the senior Russian championship, automatic admission to the junior championship will be made. So only two senior events are needed, but they must be successful.

I believe this as well. Apparently she had a new cool SP choreographed, and Samokhvalov also said she trained at Novogorsk as if she was getting ready for Olympics.
The IceAge approached her in spring and she didn’t agree to their offer up until August, so I think she hesitated a lot about what to do this season.
I think she honestly might not know herself what she’s planning long term.
It's possible something changed since the training camp. That's okay. Alina only owes her team an explanation. I'm sure she kept them in the loop.
Kostornaya is the most beautiful Russian ladies skater ever - both in skating abilities and looks. I hope that Russian people are proud of her.
Super proud. But aliona crosses the boundary of countries and anyone from anywhere can appreciate her amazing skill.
Love you Alina, but you could do better than sending a letter to feds. :noshake:
She's been kind of busy brakes. you have to remember she's still learning how to handle everything.
If I right remember Plushenko "bought" Aliona..Why he would wait money from her?
It's pretty nice since Sasha and aliana went to PA Sasha has gotten two more endorsements and aliona finally got her first. Ling overdue.
Does Alina withdrawing from Test Skates make room for someone on the reserve team to attend, or no?
I hope so but I have my doubts.

You may have tapped on to something there fabi. Interesting point about EG only having one skater there. Now she'll have two ladies Anna and Kamila.

The GP assignments will be announced later this week apparently, does anyone have any last minute prediction for the Russian ladies and the Russian GP? I think that all of the national team members will be there, but who else? Will Evgenia go back to Canada to have an easier time at their GP? Or is there even time for that?

I feel that the GP assignments are totally irrevelant now. Who would even want to be there at the Rostelecom Cup?. It is scheduled between Russian Cup Stages 4 and 5, and I think most skaters will prioritize to qualify to RusNats. So why even bother with the Rostelecom Cup GP? Initially, I thought this would be a great "mini" RusNats, but now I'm not so sure, wouldn't be surprised if many top skaters won't show up (e.g. Kostorrnaia who will be at stage 4 and 5).

As for Zhenya and Skate Canada I think that is just a no. She might get 2 quarantine weeks to get into Canada and another 2 weeks to get out. Not worth it.

Overall, I think we can forget the whole GP this season...unfortunately.

Damage control by FFKKR?

For what its worth that tweet that was posted that supposedly Zagitova's mother replied to someone on a different social media site didn't provide a link to the post from her mother. I wouldn't put it past an uber fan to manufacture a defense of their favorite skater. I mean Zagitova went on national TV to announce her break but then apparently weeks ago when she decided to not go to test skates she's absolutely silent to her fans and the press? But I can certainly see a logical explanation for her being quiet about her continued break.

Yeah, but Fed also kept silent about Danielyan, Aliev, S/B, S/K, and so did all of the athletes, they announced withdrawal a day before Alina. Hard to believe that Fed didn’t know or that athletes kept their trips to Germany a state secret.
They all knew, and Fed kept fooling everyone and did tell athletes to stay silent too.

Well done Alina fooling RusFed, this needs some balls. And with a direct message I don't like your role, I found a better role for this part of time.

What are they going to Germany for? Does medicine suck in Russia?

Do they have to quarantine themselves in Germany for 14 days once they arrive?

No one is in good shape for top form I’m not surprised so many Russian skaters are injured I imagine that’s the case in many countries. If I was the top two Russian men I might skate nationals this season but I wouldn’t kill my selves for this season whatever the hell it’s going to be. Build for the future and the future is not now.

Alina made her choice and I’m sure she’s content with it.

I think this is Fed's way to sell more tickets, although it would've been sold out anyway. Either way, it's not nice to the fans, to make them spend money and be disappointed 2 days before the event.

What are they going to Germany for? Does medicine suck in Russia?
Precisely. Medicine is really bad in Russia and since nobody wants to see top athletes get mistreated, funds are provided for medical treatment abroad. Countless Russian skaters go to Germany. AFAIK the Fed has an arrangement with a German clinic.

well..well...well...

Ilinykh - Plushenko: “You give freedom and strength. Thank you for your trust and the opportunity to learn and develop every day "

Olympic champion in figure skating Elena Ilinykh shared her impressions of her work at the Evgeni Plushenko Academy.

“The last week has been incredibly stressful both physically and mentally. But we held out. It's always easier together.

First of all, I want to say thank you for inviting the great athlete to the team, and now our chief Evgeni Plushenko. Evgeny Viktorovich, you charge a million percent with your energy, looking at you it is impossible to stop.

You give freedom and strength. Thank you for your trust and the opportunity to learn and develop every day. Seeing you on ice with your children every day and every minute is the greatest happiness and unreal inspiration!

Sergey Rozanov , I won't say much, you know everything yourself. I want the world to see your performances and your work sooner. And, of course, it is a great responsibility to stand next to you. Well, people say that we look beautiful overboard.

Thanks to Dmitry Mikhailov, there is a lot of work ahead, but we will definitely manage it.

Thanks to my girls, you are strong, beautiful, talented. You are hard workers! It's good that viewers don't see everything that you go through every day. I think the stands would weep with me. Thank you for giving people joy and pleasure to look at and admire you.

Thanks to Yana Rudkovskaya for her support, for important words and for your trust! Everything you do for sports is a completely new level! Further more! With God!" - wrote the Ilinykh.

Oh dear, you shouldn't have quoted the last statement. I'm sure there is bad blood again. :eeking:

 Why? Probably she brought the sponsors for many little skaters not just for the stars. This is totally new in Russian figure skating this is what Lena mentioned.
