Well, Sasha really didn't falter until the 2nd half of the season when she went head to head against Aliona and Anna.
Plus - she doesn't get credit for Japan Open, which was only the LP (which she won with 160+ score).

I'm not saying she didn't need a change, but the scores alone don't tell the whole story.

And if only particular score would be isolated from everything else, then e.g. Anna was in the "need of change" since the beginning of the last season, because, what a horror, she scored only 218.20 at Lombardia :biggrin:

I am sure they would have swept the medals at Worlds. They were really unlucky. I hope they will have the chance to go to Worlds this year.

How could they not have? Not having world's changed everything Aliona would have been the favorite but if Sasha or aliona won it would have changed everything for them. Not having worlds and being shut down for months got them thinking. The rest is history. Not having worlds this year would be even more devastating. I don't know if they can arrange it for international travel and I don't know if they can bring the skaters in and then not skate in front of fans they can skate worlds in front of empty arenas if they have to.

It was not a very good one though, she landed it forward and it was <<.

After the short
Guliakova 67.51
Samodurova 66.77 (had a bad 3Lz)
Safonova 66.56

Safonova was the only one clean and should have been higher imo.
 
TeamMishin rewarded for showing up?

Safonova less artistic than Samodurova in PCS, while skating clean with higher BV and better element distribution?

The margins are so close, the free skating will be very competitive tomorrow.

MOSCOW, October 31. / TASS /. Thirteen-year-old figure skater Sof'ya Samodelkina plans to perform a quadruple Salchow and a triple Axel at the junior stage of the Russian Cup in Kazan. The figure skater's coach Sergey Davydov told TASS about this.

At the pre-season junior Test Skates of the Russian national team, from the ultra-si elements, Samodelkina demonstrated an Axel with three and a half turns. She has not yet performed since.

"Sof'ya plans to perform at the stages in Kazan and Moscow. She plans to do a triple Axel and a quadruple Salchow in the free program. We are learning the quad Rittberger, but it is too early to talk about its performance in the free program. Moreover, now we are preparing for the competition, and learning elements takes away time ", - said Davydov.

Although it's always pleasing when a favourite establishes a comfortable lead, it's a nice change to have such close bunching at the top of the table, going into the Free Skate.

Yes. A shame she didn't put two clean programs in one competition. Her total is 230+ if we put her short program and free program SBs together.

And how many triksels, the skill still considered more difficult and daring?

Trusova seemed to have overcome her initial apprehension, is already playing with it in training ...
But will it be stable enough for competition?
