Maiia was the cleanest, a good move forward for her, and I was so happy to see her perform this program, she was smiling, playful, performing to the max. This style suits her a lot!
I liked her a lot as well. At the beginning I was a bit skeptical towards the song and theme choices given her young age but I've been proved wrong...she really performed it well, IMO. Congrats to all the ladies for an amazing competition so far.

How does samodurova get a level 4 on her layback when the beilmann position isn't directly over her head? The foot is kinda behind her neck...
She shouldn't have.

Because it's still a layback position. It doesn't need to be beilman.
That wasn't a layback variation, and it wasn't a Biellmann.
Also, am I blind or did I see minimal peroration on Alyona's lutz and flip?
It's been the case for a bit. Since last season, anyway.

and I would say she has a great curve in her Lz too.
Was already getting a slight outside last season. Is now clearly outside.

I was so happy for Maiia who skated beautifully, this styles really seem to suit her and it's just so nice to see her having so much fun :)

Alena was great too, I really like this program for her. That bonus point system bothers me though, without Alena's bonus Sasha would be in the lead, and I hope it won't hurt her confidence too much. Despite the mistake on the axel she had an amazing skate, the step sequence was delightful, she's making so much progress.

Overall a great afternoon for ladies, can't wait for tomorrow :)

Thoughts:
1) Who TF does Sasha have to bribe to get some reasonable GOE and PCS on her much improved overall skating.
2) LMfAO Aliona with worse PCS than half the Eteri girls. If we’re not careful Maya’s coming for her too 😂. Btw not a dig at Maya I think her overall presentation and certainly jumps are more convincing than Kamila’s sometimes.

Placements-wise, I probably would've switched Sasha and Aliona, but I loved seeing both of them so happy after their performances!

Sasha's 3A is SO close, and today's attempt was even better than stage 2! She'll land it at Rostelecom, I'm calling it now. The rest of her program was beautiful too!

Aliona's program has grown quite a lot since test skates, and I really enjoyed it today! She had some weird fluke errors but it was so great to see her again, and I cannot wait to see her new free tomorrow :love2:

1) Maybe she should just try to skate clean for once? She is already overrated, why throwing points at her she doesn't deserve?
2) ahem * Eteri bonus* ahem :censored:

I know a lot of people don't like Aliona's SP, but honestly, I love the step sequence so much! She brings so much passion, face and energy to every step.
I would like it more if they didn't insist on inserting those cringe worthy sound effects in the beginning.

Anyway, great job today for all! I would have had Sasha lead but it was great to have Aliona back! GOE on the combo was too high but her PCS were quite low (if we take the usual National inflation into consideration) - she's still the best overall Russian ladies skater and this should be reflected.

I love the step sequence as well even though I wish the two musical sections of her programs would transition one into another more smoothly; other than that I found the program very nice, though not exceptional, and much improved since last outing. I have to say though that I like Sasha's SP better.
So far my personal preference of the SP of top girls is: 1) Kamila 2) Sasha 3) Maiia/Aliona tied 5) Akatieva 6) Anna/Darya tied.

I don't like the bonus systen or "local rules" in general, but I don't think champions of that level will let a +1 bonus taken or lost influence their personal evaluation of their own perfomance

I don't have such a memory to remember all her PCS scores, but I would have expected maybe more punishing for the combo (the 1st of the two jump was outstanding tough) and more PCS, but without checking out past PCS it's just a sensation.

Even more so because the difference between Sasha and Aliona is only 1 point. Last season, Aliona only won by having a huge lead after the SP, so Sasha is still the favorite for the Gold.

One thing I liked today, though, was seeing all three girls happy in the K&C.

I hope you're right :) Sasha's such a badass warrior, I'm not that much worried for tomorrow but at last event she seemed saddened by the scores. The 3A really seems to be more about confidence than other jumps. But I'm probably concerned over nothing :)
