You know the judging is a joke when they give +2 GOE for a combo with a step out & a bonus for a bungled spin :)
The bonus wasnt for the messed up Layback but for the Flying Camel. The messed up Layback got faily moderate GOE of +0.6 which I think is fine for a spin that was good for the first 75% and then completely lost its center and therefore speed in the last position.
On the point of the combo I can only agree. Anyone giving that step out higher than a 0/-1 is either blind or trying to artificialy help her.

Oh my gosh Nugumanova is the most balletic skater I've seen, honestly more so than any of the big names. I think she's the highlight of the night for me. Her tech is not competitive at all but I want her to be showered with pcs candies, at least in performance and interpretation pretty please. :)

Lovely to see Tarakanova back even though the result is not what she was hoping for. She is SO FAST and I think the program is really suits her. Those musical accents were *chef's kiss*.

I have such a soft spot for Sasha even though Aliona is my fave that it pains me they can't both win. She did very well today and that 3A is getting very close. And the best thing was seeing her relaxed and happy with her performance in kiss and cry.

That was far from Aliona's best performance sadly but she's clearly grown a lot so I am expecting some adjusting for her this year. That flubbed spin is rather disappointing though after seeing all the amazing practice spins she's been doing. Looks like the nerves really got to her today. I would say her score is still very reasonable though if you consider the bonus and domestic comp boost. So internationally, that might've been about 74.

(Although, I think Sasha internationally would be slightly ahead...)

Kromykh was very good today but she doesn't have the reputation to push 80 like Usacheva for some reason. Not sure how I feel about that... But at least, she rightfully has a real chance of beating Aliona here.

To be honest I think they were much more conservative with top skater pcs in this competition compared to the previous ones. Aliona didn't get all 9's despite mistakes *ahem Valieva and Scherbakova ahem* so it suspiciously looks like the Eteri bonus is real. I guess we'll have to see at the final when they're all up against each other.

You know the judging is a joke when #biggestedkostofanintheworld Jackie Wong even thinks the GOE was too generous. So far over 4 competitions the only top skater I don’t see getting any domestic comp bonus is Sasha. We can continue arguing over Eteri bonus PCS until we’re blue in the face but at least Aliona is still getting generous GOEs. Meanwhile Sasha could reasonable be scoring *better* internationally than she is domestically.

It seems every event the scoring gets more and more conservative. I think PCS is a little under for Aliona and Sasha. I can see them reducing Aliona’s a little due to the jump/spin error but Sasha really had such an outstanding performance (her best artistically imo) and so I’d like to see that reflected. If we compare the scoring the the first events then errors should have no effect on PCS just GOE. Drop the +2 for the botched jump and increase the scores for PCS, for Aliona. Sasha keeps getting better and yet the PCS score does not reflect that. But they were both happy and I think perhaps they’ve been given the expectation of “qualify for nationals” not “perform perfectly and bring home gold with a record” which removes a lot of pressure. Aliona is usually so upset with herself when she doesn’t complete her elements perfectly but we even got a smirk from her before she left the ice! Maia has a good short but that doesn’t seem to translate well to the free. I still think it’s a bit mature for her age. Aliona’s 3A in the free skate will also make it hard for her to catch up to Sasha and Aliona.

My expectation tomorrow
1. Sasha
2. Aliona
3. Maia

My take on todays performances. Great to see Nastya T skate again she is my sentimental fave even though she has had a struggling last couple of seasons and this performace was a bit of a miss overall even if there where moments I greatly enjoyed.

Aliona: I really liked this new shortprogram actually. I dont particularly like the music so I expected to dislike it but Aliona really sells it and it manages to show of both her soft and elegant skating and the more edgy kind she showed us last year in the end of the free. The step out on the combo was a bit unfortunate and as has allready been stated the GOE on that was strange... Overall it was a good comback but with a few minor issues to work out until next time. Personally I think she should have been second here today (deduct 1point in GOE on the combo). But the difference is so small its anyones game in the free.

Sasha: Deffenetly a step in the right direction from last time. The 3A seemed closer and she hit it in the warm up so i think its coming. On a more important note she seems to have worked more on her weaker areas since last time and lost verry llittle points on steps, spinns and PCS. Of corse Aliona deserves to be ahed in these areas but since they each had a step out and Aliona also had a failed spin I think Sasha deserved the win today. The ! on 3F worries me a bit and I feel this is something they need to work on unless it becomes a permanent problem.

Maiia: Im not really a fan but she did verry well today and I see no isuues with her scores here. It will be interesting to see how she compares to sasha and Aliona in the free. She looks like she grew even taller and there was some moments that her incredibly long limbs seemed a bit awkward and I am slightly worrid how its going to go with jump consistency if she keeps growing at this rate.

Sofia: Im sorry but this program does nothing for me. I zoned out and started contemplating Kamillas lean on 4T here and to me that is a sign of a bad program when I start thinking of other skaters. Other than that I feel like the Tech panel was verry kind to her on the 3Lzq I would have given it 3Lz<e which would have hurt her score quite a bit. What I used to relly like about Sofia was her energy and like she allways had a party on the ice whenever she skated and I just dont get that feeling this year.

Nugomanova: Such a nice classic performance but those URs really hurts her score and I think we need to accept that they are here to stay unforturnately :(

I know some are going to complain that this or that skater was overscored but honestly I think all of them are and has been for the last 3 events as well so I have just accepted that they get 2-3 points more than they truly deserve but international standards.

On a completely different note. While wating for Nasty Ts score we where shown a clip on the 2nd group as they where waiting to get on the ice. In the clip we saw Sofia, Sasha, Aliona and partly Valeria casually chatting and laugh about someting and I was verry glad that I couldnt see any tension between Aliona and Sasha. Now I can happily keep beliving that their desire to train apart has nothing to do with a dislike for eachother but only a desire not to share the attention of their coach.

I noticed that, too! And responded alike :)
Actually, I must say I am pretty happy for both girls looking so relaxed and happy afterwards, It seems that despite all the gossip they have both settled pretty well in their new coaching situations, they both seem really in tune and ease with their respective coaches and with Plushenko, and with themselves. He seems to have a good rapport with both of them, too.
As many have said before, I would put Sasha ahead of Alyona today, but it is just less than 1 point difference so it is not that bad.
I love Sasha new updated dress, the changes suit her well.
And I love Alyona's SP. Unlike many of you - and just like Alyona and Zhenya - I actually like Billie Eilish a lot. Skating to her music is a challenge but I was sure all along that Alyona would manage to make it great.
As for Sasha, her 3A is very close and obviously she needs to practice it in competitions to finally master it. And once she does...

Alyona herself can't believe the bs score:

Well same asmany of you even if i love alyona i would have put sasha into first place, for me she deserved it today. But on the other hand i am happy to see aljona again, for her its the first real competition, and its noticable thatnot only has she grown in terms of height but that her body also gotmore womamly( which is nothing bad at all in my opinion). Just between sasha , anna and aljona you can see that aljona is the oldest. I think for her it is also good that this year is a bit of a breather for in some places, because if there is no euros or world than this is literally the perfect year for a skater with a growthspurt to get a feeling for the new body.
Congrats to maiia for beeing clean today, mabye she can go clean tomorrow too

wow how tf was Aliona ahead of Trusova???? she didn't even believe it herself.

also a lot of the earlier girls were so robbed of GOEs I felt so sad for them

the top three are so close tho, makes tomorrow exciting but I know Sasha will win anyway

? she just got PCS higher than Maya - if that's not a bonus, then I don't know what is
Maia does not have any PCS bonus either because it's not a "Sambo" bonus.
The PCS bonus is concentrated to 3 specific individuals as far as we saw in this competition.

I preferred Sasha's performance here than her earlier stage I think she was much more sensitive to the music esp towards the end with the step sequence. I was disappointed that she didn't land the 3A here because it's been looking so good in training but hopefully, she can land it at the GP and at nationals. I don't understand her PCS points. Like why is she tying in PCS with freaking Maia of all people? This is problematic for other competitions and at nationals when she will be against everyone.

I like Aliona's program and I like her skating as usual but I really dislike her dress. It looks like there were trying to do a lot with it and it just didn't materialize properly. Her 2A though was so amazing. Her Lutz was also really really good. Shame on her money jump the 3F3T but then again the crazy goe for it makes me upset.

Maia did really well I would say. I love the song for her and she also has improved on her speed and presentation. I'm not too upset at her goe but in relation to Trusova's is just so unfair. Her jumps soo much better here. They looked confident unlike her usual unsteady jumps to me.

A shout out to Shulskaya's dress, so so so pretty.

Overall, I think it should've been Trusova, Aliona then Maia. Rooting for Trusova to win with a glorious margin tomorrow.

what I meant was that if you take any judge - but don't tell them that Sasha is a senior and Maya is a junior - no way Sasha would get PCS higher than Maya; that bonus
