As for her reasons for leaving I am not sure if we know all the story. After all when she left, Daniil was saying quite defensively that he had prepared for her a 5 quad program for Worlds and we could even see her skate it at a training. So I am not sure if that is all there is...
I think it’s because they limited her, Sasha was inconsistent, even when trying more and more.
Even with Anna this year, Anna said she wanted to do 2 quads at her 2nd stage, but they eventually came to a decision to skate with one.
With Sasha I think it was evident Sasha was unhappy with being limited (even at Europeans she spoke out straight off the ice), hence by worlds they tried to take her wishes into account as a last ditch attempt to make her happy, when things were already going south. However, imo and judging by what Sasha herself said, I don’t think it was the strategy the coaches themselves preferred.
I think it’s a tricky situation. Only Sasha herself knows how she feels. Every athlete has their own limits in terms of health and injury proneness: while Nathan Chen can train multiple quad routines like no big deal without any injuries, attempting the same approach would leave skaters like Yuzuru or Denis Ten injured on day 1. Same with ladies, some can pump out incredible things and have 0 injuries, others are constantly injured while doing way less.
so to speak, I understand both sides in this argument. On one hand, limiting quads seems reasonable (and I don’t think it was ever done to hold Sasha back), on the other hand only she knows whether she feels okay or not with certain amount of training.
