It's obvious he loved Alina.

But I'm also pretty sure Anna was his favourite of the 3A (at the time). He was the first to get her skating again after she broke her leg when he was pretty much carrying her as she glided across the ice.

We know skaters don't blame themselves with their failures just like the rest of society we always blame somebody else. in figure skating it's always the coaches that get the blame.

I would actually say the skaters take results quite personally. They never seen to be completely happy. There's always something they can work on.

I think part of it is you're more miserable when you don't win gold then you are happy when you do win gold. It is true that brilliant athletes never seem to be truly happy. I know in some of the American sports I'd follow the people at make the most money and are the best sometimes are the least happy or so it seems..

Not a huge fan of letting Zhenya and Alina pick their own teams though. Like it gives me flashbacks to elementary school and captains picking players for kickball. The last few will always feel so bad.

Not a surprise given how any Russian mens event goes.

I think it's always been a given that the girls can outjump the guys, especially in terms of consistency. But now we have concrete evidence!

So all this big time draw-and-nothing-like-the-team-spirit event ended up as being Eteri girls vs non-Eteri girls with Maia standing in last minute for withdrawn Alyona. How predictable ....

Just saw the jumping competition and what a fun event it was!

Very impressed with the girls, Sasha, Anna and Kamila were the only ones that didn't use double jumps in their 5 jump combos (although they had to eek out the last triples)

Haven't seen Chaikovskaya since she was Butyrskaya's coach 20 years ago! She must be very old.
