So if I'm understanding everything correctly, Aliona is now reportedly accepted by Eteri again whilst Rozanov stays at AOP, right?
It really makes me wonder who has the magic that once brought Aliona to her best. Was it Rozanov, or Eteri, or the overall intense training environment at Eteri's group?
Probably a combination..

And obviously the same situation can't be achieved again, especially as she's more injured and been more sick now. However, it's probably the closest she can do to getting back to it under the circumstances..

Anya didn't deserve this "show" in her training group three weeks before her first Worlds. 😔
Eteri should know better.:slink:
After all the drama she's witnessed first hand at Sambo, and the things Shcherbakova has had to recover from in her career and it being her first worlds I doubt that she allow herself to be bothered by it. Plus I'm sure her coaching team will insulate her from it because she is a legitimate contender for winning Worlds this year which combined with 3 consecutive national titles might make her a lock for the Olympic team (barring implosion) next year

It would be an absolute media bombshell if after this drama and suspense Eteri actually rejects her. It would be her good right and I'd completely understand her on a human level, actually even support it on the bases of principle, manners or "message sending". But she will take her back. Krustalny is a huge sport complex where large sums of money, nepotism, reputation and powerplay are involved. It's not Eteri's private school as many people seem to think, and she is not at the top of the foodchain there, as Plushenko is at his private academy.

Ah yes, spreading unproven rumours around.
Like yesterday was not enough

I actually asked this question a few hours ago. I also heard (totally separate from the IG story that was posted) that Lakernik is Aliona's uncle, specially the husband of her mom's sister. I'm *not* trying to spread rumors; I'm just very curious if anyone here knows the truth.

Eteri may not be the head person in charge but I'm sure if she doesn't want Kostornaia she can argue her case to those in charge and given her track record refuse to take her. Honestly Kostornaia should make sure Eteri is only taking her back because she wants to, otherwise she can end up in a worse training environment.

I have no knowledge to share but I just think if Lakernik was truly Alyona's mother's brother, Eteri would have been humbly inquiring what else she could, please, do for her - yesterday and last July just as well.

"Alena came to us not in the best shape, she, unfortunately, has health problems and it was impossible to solve them quickly, plus a coronavirus and a complication. My husband suggested that she skip this season, take care of her health, but Alena continued to rush into battle. Kostornaya is a cool girl, an excellent athlete and a very strong skater, but for training you need to have health, with which she has problems."

Hmm, this is unfortunately not quelling my concerns/preconceived potential problems. Yes, we know she's had Covid. I'm getting more concerned it's not Covid related but another issue. There has been a little too much words from AOP about being healthy, returning to health, as if it's not just Covid keeping her unhealthy. From my personal experience, I was concerned about her appearance/weight loss and how healthily she was going about doing it. Now I'm reading Russian angina is likely more a very bad sore throat.... hmmm..... I think TeamAOP just might be trying to find a way to say "This girl needs HELP for another disorder".
I think we knew she was hurt with Eteri even. She's had injury concerns for the past two seasons. COVID was just yet another thing. Not the only thing.

Insulate how? Kostornaia has to train somewhere. With all her technical/conditioning problems she's gonna take coaches' focus away from other students. Juniors do not jeopardize much having finished their competitive seasons, but Anya? 😔

I still think that Eteri could send one of the juniors away to reaccept Alyona K. It wasn’t fair when she was training 4 girls for a 3 lady Olympics team, but now FIVE???! I think she needs to select the 3 she thinks can sweep the Olympic podium, and maybe it does include Kostornaia in her mind, who knows

EDIT: it would be horrible if she actually did this

I'm sure for the next 3 weeks top priority will be the skaters still competing, other skaters will still get training but probably with "secondary" coaches. This team is used to having to train senior skaters and Junior skaters for worlds at the same time.

I think some of you are underestimating Anna's mental toughness and ability to remain focused. A skater who can win Russian nationals 3 times in a row in a field twice as tough as the hardest international field is more than capable of remaining focused when there are distractions around.

Again, Anna seems to thrive when she is not the focus of everyone’s attention, so this could be good for her
