2020-21 U.S. Men's Figure Skating

Jordan Moeller participated in an IG live with Rapid Reboot:

He is training "more quads" to put in his programs. His motivation comes from "what the ice allows him to do".

(the interviewer does not know FS "Edge work" : what is that? :), so Jordan does a lot of explaining, His explanations are very good, actually )

The men's lineup for this week's "Junior Cup" at Skate Milwaukee is 🔥

I have no idea if all these skaters will show, but even if half of them do, wowza. If I were anywhere near Milwaukee, I'd be there.

Ilia Malinin, Jacob Sanchez (my boy:hap10:) Joe Klein (my second boy), Sam Mindra, Will Annis, and many more I just don't have time to type out.

I will be interested to see exactly what the Junior Cup results are used for. :)

ETA: and there is a junior men's comp that is separate from the "Junior Cup", and @moonvine Andrew Austin is skating in the senior men (as well as Maxim Naumov).
Im really looking forward to watch everyone!

Im actually very shocked that Eric Prober (2021 jr nats 🥇) is not in the line up considering the 2021-22 season is the last season where he is jr eligible.

My only thought would be that since this is the selection skate for the JGP, maybe Eric as the junior champ has a slot confirmed by USFS?

simple wild guess, no facts:)

Nathan Chen will be skating at some point in the men's sp at the LA Open Championships. Here's the livestream link:

order of events:

Incorrect.
ETA: Ooops, I see that sheetz replied above just before I did.

A thumbnail profile of the admirable Nathaniel Chen, who will be competing at Los Angeles Open:

I look forward to Senior Men at Los Angeles Open, including Nathaniel Chen.
I always enjoy Sebastien Payannet in particular.

In Junior Men, I look forward especially to Goku Endo.

Good luck to all. :)

Thanks for correcting my over-enthusiasm, misreading error @ice coverage.

World champion Nathan Chen will not be competing at Los Angeles Open.

Nathaniel Chen is a different skater from Nathan Chen.
LOL LOL!!! Wow, what a misreading. So sorry. All I saw was 'Nathan.. Chen' and that's a fact. :ROFLMAO:

I'll bet this isn't the first time that the listing 'Nathaniel Chen' led to misreads and misplaced excitement. Tee hee!

Did you leave out Andrew Austin or are you only counting certain men?

Thank you @bonita and @Ella5555 for "proof of life" of my boy Andrew T. on the ice, or at least in the rink(y)

I will depend on the kindness of those who follow Team Raf for such photos, since Andrew T. does not seem inclined to provide them himself. 😔

Those of us who follow him do get lots of photos of the beach however:laugh:

You would find there more pictures of him and Nathan here, two in this tweet, one in the IG post from the rink, both Andrew and Nathan were smiling so brightly

Vincent leading by a mile just like I expected. The better he skates, the further in the rear view mirror Worlds will go.

Ilia Malinin and Lucas Broussard have been assigned to the first JGP in Courchevel.

Good to see two US men assigned:clap:

Hi, El!

I'm still navigating the world of junior skating. Are there two JGP in Courchevel this season? Mildly confusing, and I suspect it might have something to do with some other location dropping out. Do you know the details?

Edmonton dropped out because the borders will be closed in Canada to non-vaccinated people, which a lot of the juniors will be. Courchevel picked up that JGP event because they have enough rink space to host pairs along with the other three disciplines. So yes, there are two JGPs back-to-back in Courchevel.

Off topic for this thread, but Courchevel is *not* hosting pairs competition for either of its two JGPs.

Edmonton originally was going to have pairs competition -- which was added instead to JGP Gdansk.

(y) Happy news that a second spot at Courchevel #1 became available for U.S. men.

My understanding is that wherever another federation gives up an allotted spot, U.S. men will be first in line at every JGP this season for a second one (by virtue of Naumov's placement at 2020 Junior Worlds).
I think(?) that chances are pretty good  that second spots also will become available for U.S. men at some(?)/most(?)/all(?) subsequent JGPs.

ETA (on Jul 20):

U.S. men's alternates for Courchevel #1 (in alphabetical order):
- Annis
- Klein
- Kovar
- Martynov
- Nielsen
- Sanchez
- Zharkov

I agree because Japan will be giving up spots due to non attendance for COVID and Italy will not have enough skaters to fill all their spots
