We could all become vegans and forgo pets (not personally appealing ideas to me), but some compromise in terms of restricting live animal markets/regulating farming conditions might help.
But doesn't coronavirus spread through air? I don't think eating meat has anything to do with it.
The coronavirus was originally a bat virus which spread to humans via a meat market, where wild animals were sold. China has banned the trade and consumption of these wild animals which are known to carry the bat virus. The prevalent L type (∼70%) is more virulent than the S type (∼30%) that is an ancestral bat virus. The L type has evolved or mutated from the bat virus to infect humans more effectively.
