I'm on the verge of falling asleep (tonight was very stressful for me, which isn't good for my ongoing health problems), but I wanted to share Roman's post-TE FS interview with CBC TV, where he said that it felt like he was skating in someone else's body. There's a very brief clip near the end where you see one of his teammates (it's hard for me to tell which guy it is because my brain is shutting down right now) cradling Roman's head while Roman cries into his chest. 💔 I just thought it was a touching moment where the team is providing him with emotional support after what has been a nightmarish Olympics for him.

It's been a long day for all the maple team, especially Roman. Now what's done is done, he surely needs to rest well and be prepared for the next events. Tough time but at least, no one has ever thought about giving up. Thanks for being strong after all.

I think it's Nik Sorensen, though I could be wrong. Between him and Tracy, it's hard to tell Roman is even in there.

apparently second time they collide this week.... wow...at least, the pairs event is in 12 days.... if James and Radford are not feeling it, MTM can skate the FP of the team event...

I've been told that Roman's interview is geoblocked outside of Canada, so I took a screencap of the clip where Roman is being held by his teammate in the hope that someone outside of Canada is able to identify if it's Mike or Nik.

I just wish I knew for certain who it was because I want to give proper credit to the teammate who comforted Roman in such a tender way (with an intrusive TV camera nearby, no less) after he had a catastrophic long program. I'm sad to say that I've known plenty of people who are happy to trample on others when they're down (and we've of course encountered some of them on this forum), so I was really moved seeing this moment.

There's no denying that Roman is by far the weakest link in Team Canada, but I'm very relieved that none of his teammates appear to be angry at him because he endangered the team's chances to qualify for the FS, or that he definitely cost them a chance (however small) at getting the bronze medal. Whether it was Mike or Nik who cradled Roman in their arms, I think they're a total sweetheart, and they displayed team spirit at its best. Maybe I'm just overly emotional, but that was a really beautiful, heartwarming gesture to me. 💖

To me it looks like Nik-- I think Nik has more stubble than Mike, haha. But I wholeheartedly agree with your entire post, and I also wanted to mention that when Roman's score came up in the free skate I saw Zachary Lagha putting his hand on Roman's shoulder. I hope Roman continues to receive as much support as possible from the rest of the Canadian team and that he's able to hold his head up high in the individual event SP tomorrow.

i think it's Nik too now ... because Mike was seen wearing a plaid jacket

Roman : I only wish he had a bit more time to reflect on his experience but at the same time, here is something he can think about !

Keegan is coming.... and who knows in what kind of shape. Keegan could have given up on this experience. But he isolated, training in stairwells and rented ice, traveled all over the world after tons of testing... for what? He will be jet lagged, tired, at best. Because it's a once in a lifetime experience and that's all that matters. If Keegan can show up, and just skate after all that, ti should give some perspective to Roman : skate, do your best, stand proud with a high held head !
