I think Alysa's speed had improved quite a bit by 2021 Nationals. Based on her recent videos, I would say her speed going into jumps has improved dramatically since Nationals.
I agree. I'm sure that Alysa's team knows she'll need more speed to match the Russian and Japanese Ladies. However, I think it was most important to get her jumps back after last season. Speed will be the next thing for them focus on.

Anyone know if Broadmoor Open will be streamed? Ladies competing include Karen, Audrey Shin, and Young You in seniors, and Isabeau Levito, Mia Kalin, and Clare Seo in juniors: http://broadmoorskatingclub.com/bo-add-page/
I checked the whole website but it didn't say if they were live-streaming it or otherwise. There are two email addresses available for questions about the event.

Caveats:
(1) I do not know whether Broadmoor streaming will be available to the public.
(2) If public streaming were available, I do not know whether it would require a fee.

But FWIW, buried on the the website is a reference to live video for 2021 (which does not mention a specific platform).

(Go, Audrey! And good luck to all the ladies who have entered.)

I'm wondering if Audrey and Karen are debuting their new programs at Broadmoor or if they're going to use their programs from last season. I really enjoyed Audrey last season and I'm glad that she is (probably) reusing her SP but based on her description of her new FS, I'm weary of it.

If(??) Olympic hopefuls who have entered Broadmoor did not compete their Olympic-season programs there, seems to me that it would be a wasted opportunity. Broadmoor is a chance to get feedback and competition mileage on new programs.

Per the 2021-22 listings on Audrey's website, she is keeping her SP from last season.

I haven't heard of Clare Seo, but I am super excited to see how Audrey, Young, Isabeau and Mia have progressed over the past year. (I'm not dissing Karen, but she's kind of a "final product" by this point, and I seriously don't think she will ever be capable of ultra-C or fully rotated 3/3s at this point, but I do really like her skating.). Hopefully it will be live-streamed, or at least put up on Youtube.

I'm hoping the USFSA will upload the videos onto their website, like they did with the US Adult Nationals and Peggy Fleming Trophy. I really want to see the new programs if skaters do perform them at this event.

I felt that Clare had the highest quality jumps among our juniors at nationals. Transitions, speed in and out, quality of rotation, amount of rotation, and just overall stability. Isabeau is still working on speed and some awkwardness, Mia and Kanon are working through <.

She was also probably the best in skating skills, which IMO speaks to the deficiencies in our system (my understanding is that Clare grew up training in SK; her overall skating looked much better than most everyone else and was similar to what I’m seeing from the Japanese and Korean ladies of the same age).

She, along with Isabeau, Mia, and Kanon are definitely the ones to keep an eye on. I’m hoping for some ultra-Cs at Broadmoor and crossing my fingers for success. Mia was incredibly close on that 4T at nationals. Isabeau has attempted a couple of times now (popped the last) and has shown remarkable consistency on triples.

A few questions that will hopefully be answered after Broadmoor Open:

Karen Chen - Will she be attempting the triple-Axel? How are her jumps looking and will she be attempting a 3Lz3T in both segments?

Audrey Shin - Audrey’s goal this season was to land both the 3A and 4T. Will she be attempting either jumps? Is she injured like the rumors have been saying?

Isabeau Levito - Isabeau’s jumps have been looking a little wonky during competitions as she’s grown a few inches since Junior Nationals. How will Isabeau deal with the growth and how is her 4T looking? Last time we saw her, she singled her 4T and struggled with her back-loaded 3-3 combinations. Prior to that, her 4T was deemed downgraded.

Mia Kalin - Will Mia attempt either a 4T, 4S, or 3A or… all of them? Mia’s been working on her jumps, spins, and artistry and alongside Levito, will be debuting on the international stage later this year. How will she fare?

Clare Seo - Will Clare attempt either a 3A or quad? She burst onto the scene during Junior Nationals and seems to now be skating for the US. She has amazing speed, great skating skills, and solid jumps; she has the total package and it would be amazing to see her continue to compete head-to-head with the upcoming generation of ladies (Kanon, Isabeau, Mia, Lindsay, Alysa, Audrey, etc.).

There are rumors' that Audrey is injured?

Adding another question to the one from ptvvibezz: What/who is/are the source(s) of the rumors?

I am not aware of the rumors.

I wish that when we saw US ladies doing new elements or trying things out that we didn’t immediately jump to either tearing them down or crowning them a future Olympic gold medalist. It results in really extreme thinking and ridiculous expectations. It isn’t fair to see those videos of Alysa and make a judgment of her, positive or negative, for the next year. It was that kind of thinking that set unrealistic expectations for her and led to all of last year’s criticism.

It doesn’t always have to be all or nothing - let’s just be happy that this further betters her chance of making the Olympic team than talking about her beating Valieva when she hasn’t competed internationally in over 12 months. It just fuels the flames. Negativity is toxic, but toxic positivity has ramifications too. I look forward to seeing how she does this year, particularly at any summer competitions.

This isn't exclusive to US ladies, its a ladies problem in general - go back and look at the RLT around the time of Nationals, the Channel 1 Cup, or the Cup Final. The pendulum swing of who is on top and the penciled in Olympic champ is enough to give you whiplash

My two cents:

(1) It was/is meaningless (IMO) speculation unless/until more information comes to light.

AFAIK, it is par for the course to have withdrawals -- unrelated to injury -- from summer competitions.

And especially for virtual Peggy Fleming Trophy in an Olympic season, it would not surprise me if a skater changed her mind and decided that she wanted to focus completely on training Olympic programs -- and to not take on adapting a program to meet PFT's special requirements for content and length.
el henry already had mentioned the valid possibility of this explanation.

(2) To me, speculation and rumor are two different things.

For me, an example of speculation (based on practically nothing, in this case) would be, "I wonder whether Skater ABC withdrew because of injury?"

Whereas an example of rumor (whether reliable or not) would be more like, "I heard that Skater XYZ injured his ankle at dance camp. Someone said that it was an off-ice fluke."
(Specificity would help make a difference between rumor vs. credible reporting. Just "I heard ..." and "Someone said ..." are different from: "I heard from his choreographer" or "His partner said.")

Skaters withdraw for all sorts of reasons: for example, Kao Miura withdrew from a minor local competition, but not because of injury. Audrey could have an event, be unable to travel, have boot problems, need to do something for school, etc. Of course, she also could be injured, but one withdrawal from a competition that's not even live is far from enough confirmation for an injury.

Since she has moved to her new coaching team her skating skills, artistry, and speed have greatly improved.
Is Jeremy Abbott still a part of her team? If so he would be a great help in working with Alysa on her speed and skating skills which were always a strength in Jeremy's skating.
