It seems that the 2021 Nationals, gold and silver medalists were given first dibs for Skate America.
True. But idk it seems like she'd have much better odds of medalling at Rostelecom, COC or even IDF than either of her current assignments.

Idk if the usfsa picks who goes to other countries' grand prix assignments, right? I think France is the fed that picked starr. She was also invited for the 2019 season. Maybe she has many fans there?? Well, I'd like for other skaters to get a chance since Starr is doing the same content, but since other feds are doing the choosing, maybe they choose skaters who aren't a threat? I'm so confused.

Yeah, that's right. I guess I always assumed feds had at least some influence over which of their skaters go where, even if they don't get to pick who goes outright, but maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, so excited for this season and Olympic year chaos

One more thought (and then I'll shut up!) - I wonder if Amber being assigned to SkAm means she's less likely to get Nebelhorn (and, accordingly, Alysa or Mariah are more likely to get it)? I looked back a few years and the last time the same lady went to both competitions was Gracie in 2014. But of course, this is the first time an Olympic spot has to be confirmed at Nebelhorn...

Starr is working on increasing her technical content. She’s been active on social media and has been posting videos of her 3F3T, 3Lz, and a slew of other jumps that she hopes will be consistent this year. She’s also working on a 3A but it is severely downgraded. I for one am very excited to see Starr improve, she’s an important figure in the skating community and would love to see her thrive.

Why SA would not have Alysa at their big marquee event is beyond me. She's the future of US ladies and will sell tickets and probably has more of a chance to medal. Idiotic move USFS.
I hate to bring this up again, but the rumor is that Alysa plans to retire after this year, so Idk about her being the future of US ladies.

WHAT? I mean, I can't say I blame her. Skating is rough, and who knows where she or the field could be in four years at Milan 2026. But where have you heard this rumor?

Really? Wow, I haven't heard anything about that. It doesn't seem to make sense with the way Alysa has been training, altering her jump technique so much and focusing on skating skills, which are generally long term investments. It doesn't make a ton of sense in the US ladies field either, since it's not like Russia where new phenoms age into seniors every year to push the old phenoms out.

Now it’s coming back to me,:)

I believe our friend may lurk here, and if so, and the club sells more merch, I’m saying publicly I’m down for an order. Sorry to say the Penguins FSC (here in the Christmas City) is not nearly so cool.

and Philly International for 2022. I am willing it into existence  Where Ting (particularly now that she is back in the hood), Lindsay and Emily and everyone else can come skate!
I will join you in willing it into existence.

My apologies—I remember you and your lovely daughter, and the cool skating jacket, but not the color of the rose obviously :)

I still want one of those jackets!

ETA: or even a t shirt/hoodie with the logo would do :)
How did I miss this meeting? Was I off looking for Gracie?

Didn't Alysa finish high school this year (at age 15!!)? Makes sense that she may want to fully focus on a second career rather than try to juggle skating with college. But as a fan, I'm selfishly hoping that she'll keep skating 🥲

She finished high school at 15? I thought that secondary education in America finished at 18? That doesn't seem quite right. I can't think any school would let her graduate three years early.

She's been doing online school, so I'm guessing she skipped a few grades and has been taking more advanced classes? I remember reading an article that came out when she first won US Nats saying she planned to finish high school before the Olympic season so she could focus on transitioning to seniors, but maybe that plan has changed to straight up retiring.

Here's an article from January of this year talking about it: https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/01...nsforming-a-year-before-the-beijing-olympics/ ("Liu, who plans to graduate from her online high school before next season...").
