She finished high school at 15? I thought that secondary education in America finished at 18? That doesn't seem quite right. I can't think any school would let her graduate three years early.
She was likely home schooled. Although very rare, there have been students in the US starting college at 13 or so.

Could they just give Alysa the 3rd spot and have her WD from canada?
I think that would result in the US losing a spot in Skate Canada, whereas the TBD can go to any American who doesn't have two assignments. I'm not exactly sure who would be a good candidate for the Skate America spot though. Maybe Lindsay since she posted a high TES score at a recent domestic event and is the highest Nationals finisher without an assignment?

I'm 99.99% sure that the answer would be No -- assuming the longstanding rules from previous GP seasons remain in effect.

"Non-Seeded Skaters/Couples will not be invited to another event in replacement if they choose not to skate in an assigned event."

If a skater already had two assignments and then withdrew from one, then s/he would not be eligible for a replacement assignment.

I'm thrilled for Amber -- two assignments, including Skate America!

I thought Lindsay was going to be on the JGP since she's going to skate at the JGP decider (Skate Milwaukee)? She could be trying to do a Polina and medal at JGPs and peak at Nationals.

They are kind of throwing Alysa to the wolves but she might be able to hold her own.

I can see the logic in giving SkAm to Amber and Bradie tbh. Amber needs a bit of a reputation push to get her competitive on the pcs side so it would be good for her to get that boost before her second GP. Bradie is reigning national champion so I'm guessing she got first dibs there. I think this makes a lot of sense except that Alysa got the two most difficult GPs which might sink her GPF chances...

I haven't read the thread, but I wished they would swap Alysa w/ Bradie and give Alysa the Cup of China. At the moment, CC looks like its realistically possible to place Silver (if not more, especially since Anna may have already hit her peak physically). Anna will get an obvious win with unrealistic GOE even if she jumps poorly. Also warming up the judges and home crowd will be important next year. Cup of China was Alysa's REALLY good opportunity to shine.

I will always like Bradie but if she doesn't do well at CC then it's going to be such a big missed chance and I will concentrate on just one US lady til after the Olympics.

I think it’s a good idea to have Alysa skate against the best of the best because then she will know how she stacks up. As for the rumors regarding her retirement after the Olympics, I think that was started by TSL; take that as you will. I don’t think Alysa herself has said anything about retiring after the Olympics but I could be wrong.
and Sofia Frank finished third with a 50.90 (3Lz, 3F, 3A; attempted a 3Lz+3T but only was able to do a 3Lz).
2A not 3A. For those interested, here is the results page:

I am glad that they gave Alysa Skate Canada and NHK where she will skate with the best of the best, why wait until the Finals or the Olympics to show that Alysa can beat all of them.
I mean, yes it's good in a way. I just wished strategically USFS would have thought to make really SHINE in one GP and have the experience and try to place as high as possible in the other GP. I have to give it to Russians because they're thinking this well and strategically displaying well their favorites. And I think this just confirmed to me that Rusfed/Eteri is supporting the Trusova/Valieva/Anna trio.

Oops, I thought I made sure that I put 2A and not 3A.

If the rumors started w/TSL then it's bulls**t, srsly. At this point Dave is more interested in talking about his costume, his step sequence, his skating prospects (lol), and his life than supporting any skaters. The guy wants attention and talks as if he dislikes Alysa, Mariah, Bradie, Chen, Zhou, and (mark my words) Amber once she lands a 3A. He seems to always talk nice about underdogs until they stop being one.

That show has always been trash especially after Jenny left the first time.

I’m not too worried about Alysa— she seems like a very strong competitor. She also has more experience attempting (and landing) 3As and quads in comp than all the other US skaters combined, which will surely help her mentally despite any changes in technique. She might not end up in the GPF because of her draws, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up the top US lady again by the time Nats comes around

No one has more at stake than Amber, as far as making the Olympic team. If she can be the second best American woman on the Grand prix, and 2nd in Nationals, they can't keep her off the team.

Honestly, the USF already passed over Amber ( who got the silver at nationals) for Worlds and WTT. If they hadn't chosen her for the SKa it would be quite obvious that the federation was working against her. Which wouldn't be a smart thing to do with a skater who has been landing 3A combos. If Alysa is truly a threat for an Olympic medal, then she can definitely do well in her events even SC. Either way, the most important thing for Alysa, Amber and Bradie ( my picks for the Olympic team) is that they show up at nationals. GP medals are nice but don't determine who goes to the Olympics.

I'm pretty sure they are putting Lindsay on the jgp circuit, even if she will compete in Senior nationals.
