Cleary she didn't skate well. That's one of the lowest senior scores of the summer. Heart breakingGracie received a 47.48 with one deduction.
So was I. Another reason I wish we had received reports on how she's been practicing. Has she possibly been injured and had her training interrupted? With Lambiel, you'd think she'd be getting points for her spins. She must have missed her combo and something else to get a deduction.Oh no. Was so hoping she would come out strong.
Does this event have a free skate? I hope she'll have a chance to end on a positive note. She popped her 3Lz, fell on her 3Lo, and did a good 2A according to someone at the rink who DM'd me on Twitter. They also confirmed that she skated to East of Eden.
There is a Free Skate event for senior ladies but she didn't sign up for it. I think that was a smart choice considering she just flew back from Champery last week and hasn't been doing well ever since she came back according to someone I talked to.Does this event have a free skate? I agree. However, I think Gracie wants to skate well for herself. She's been National Champion Twice, and she's a World and Olympic Team member. She clearly still wants to compete or she wouldn't have gone all the to Switzerland.Gracie owes me absolutely nothing. I’ll cheer her on, no matter what the result.![]()
From reading the event info it looks like they are only allowing one coach and one chaperone per skater.Do we have any GS'rs that will be reporting from this event?
I definitely think she should. She's clearly still struggling with nerves and the more times she can get in front of the judges and a crowd, the better.I wonder if Gracie will skate at the Philadelphia summer competition. Some GS'ers emailed/called IceWorks to see if it was taking place this year, and it is, it's just not an international competition due to Covid. I think that it would be pretty likely if Gracie skated there since IceWorks is her home rink/club.
It’s her first event. She’s a fighter. I’m sure she will work on her mistakes and come out swinging. These small comps are not what she’s about or is used to.So was I. I will cheer for her no matter what. If she's on the ice, I'll always want the best for her. I worry about her self esteem and I hope she puts this SP behind her and moves forward in a positive way. It’s her first event. She’s a fighter. When is the Philly Summer Competition?
To be fair...the men’s short is 50 minutes and the ladies are 4.5 hoursJuly 27 to 31. The tentative schedule:
I would have gone if it were not a club comp, but a close to two hour drive for me for a club comp, alas I am not that hard core. I have done it for the internationalAnd if the senior men are scheduled for ten minutes, well, there goes my main interest.
Senior ladies are more, (ETA: more time scheduled )so it is possible Gracie could skate. She has not in the past, despite training at IceWorks.
