To be fair...the men’s short is 50 minutes and the ladies are 4.5 hours 😳! I imagine there will be some scratches, but that’s a massive event!

I'm sorry, I must be missing that part of the schedule:eek:

I saw ten minutes for the men's senior SP and and one and a half hours for women (on Friday). Am I looking at the wrong day? I think maybe Collegiates may have the longer schedule, I didn't look at those days?

In 2017, I had a great time, and the international *was* a massive event. I would guesstimate 15 senior men? And way more women. And of course, the best time is meeting up with fellow GSers:party2:

July 27 to 31. The tentative schedule:

I would have gone if it were not a club comp, but a close to two hour drive for me for a club comp, alas I am not that hard core. I have done it for the international :) And if the senior men are scheduled for ten minutes, well, there goes my main interest.

Senior ladies are more, (ETA: more time scheduled )so it is possible Gracie could skate. She has not in the past, despite training at IceWorks.
Pish posh. 2 hours. 16 hours for me.

I hope she and her coach Pasha (?) are able to regroup and help devise a plan for the upcoming season. I don't think she lost her chance at the Skate America spot with this performance, it just didn't help them and she'll have to be almost perfect at Cranberry and at Philly (if she does it) for USFS to give her the spot. Who else could get the spot? I heard Audrey Shin was doing the JGP this year but I don't know if it is true. Maybe Gabby Izzo could get that spot?

when did she fly over here to compete? i wonder if not being used to the travel like she used to be affected her.

i also think she is likely struggling with competition nerves. you can lose that if you take time off as long as she did. this seems to be a pattern with her since she returned, she does well in practice but can't deliver when the pressure is on.

I must have been looking at collegiates. You are correct, though if it’s smaller, probably a good event for Gracie. I think she should enter as many competitions/do as many exhibitions as possible. If it’s nerves (and from all I’ve heard she practices fairly well), getting on the ice in front of people by herself many times will help her.

She only had a bad day. In practice she landed everything

Did you by any chance see her practicing for this event?

I wish there was a video of this because I would be interested to know how her skating looked otherwise. Like Hanna Harrell had a similar skate at the LA Open but I thought her skating skills, speed, and spins were on par with her prior outings (one of the issues for Gracie is that her skating in general isn’t anywhere close to her past level, never mind the jumps).

If Gracie can deliver one of these days with dramatically improved speed and skating skills she will have a chance at something (SA spot, Olympics, Worlds…..something). If her skating is still very slow and labored then I don’t think she will be competitive.

That’s why she needs to compete as much as possible.
