hanna Harrell scored 54+ in the sp at glacier falls so it couldn't have been that terrible, right? Considering 2021 nationals I sincerely hope she is getting better and better. But the night belongs to kailani craine!! (I know, not a US citizen but there's bo thread to praise her) 62 points in the sp is amazing for her! Her highest sp ever!! I need video!
Hanna had 1 fall but far better than her last competition! I really hope for a comeback from her!
Kailani did so well! hope she is planning to go to nelborn trophy to fight for an olympic spot, she is in great form!

This was so much better for Hanna than her last comp (which looked a bit like a meltdown). Happy for her!!

Gracie seems to be having lots of issues with her stamina/conditioning, which vibes with what we heard about her training in Europe a few weeks ago (that her jumps looked incredible, but she was ONLY doing jumps, and not run throughs at all). l don't understand being an elite skater and not making your conditioning a priority. The most successful elite skaters are the ones doing full program run throughs every single day, which builds up such a strong muscle memory that it can get you through the program if other conditions are not ideal. If she were conditioned that way, I don't think she'd be having the problems that she does with her FS...and has for a few years now. She's running out of time to compete on the world stage.

I know for a fact that she does plenty of off-ice conditioning, but IDK about how often she does run-throughs on ice.

I watched her FS, 1 of the comments on there made a good point that her coaches don't seem to be pushing her. And she doesn't exactly look like she's taken any big steps of improvement in competition from where she was at 2 years ago. This FS today had 3 triples: 1 had fall, 1 was UR and the other was landed sloppy.

Gracie scored 89.68 in the Philly free skate. Thorngren landed an underrotated 3a and won with a 129 free skate. Here are the protocols:

I get that Thorngren's euler combination was clunky, but the scoring sheet is wrong to me on marking the euler (a single jump) as a downgrade like how do you even figure that a single jump is downgraded.

I criticize US ladies for this so I feel the need to say kudos to Lindsay for attempting not only a triple axel (which was a good attempt) but also 3 triple-triple combinations, 2 of them being back-loaded. So while the execution needs work, major kudos that she's attempting that layout this early in the season.

Here's Thorngren's FS at the triple axel mark, it looks good, but she seems to skate so slow.

All the parts are there with Lindsay, just want to see her command the ice better-she is so slow and cautious. At the Colonial Izzo skated after her and the difference was glaring. Five months until nationals give or take, can she get there? She might end up just outside the contenders, and it is more about skating skills then it is the elements-she has the goods.
Gracie-same ole same ole. Single and double jumps after the half way point. It would have been nice to see her really commit to making a return, but it didn't happen. Good luck to her whatever she decides to do in the future. (shows coaching whatever)

How do you know she hasn't committed, and just can't do what she used to do, despite trying?

I keep hearing "rumors" about run throughs, but no one committing to actually saying that, although I don't follow the women so I could have missed it. Are there verified reports from persons willing to give their names?

I've seen that fairly often in recent years.

Sometimes it's like the skater does a falling leaf (half revolution) landing on the forward outside edge and then turns to backward on the ice. The forward edge landing being safer at the low revolution level than it would be for a multirevolution jump.

I expect people are making assumptions.

It’s extremely frustrating as a fan to hear she’s not doing this that or the other, she’s not working hard, poor coaches and now she’s not committed to a comeback…

Let me just say…I do not know Gracie personally…but I find it hard to believe her goal is to win Philly International. Or even to compete there. She’s not doing this because she isn’t serious. A person doesn’t literally learn to skate again almost from scratch if they aren’t serious. I’d like to see another person go from where she was to where she is. Maybe people don’t understand how serious inpatient treatment for an eating disorder is. We didn’t just almost lose skating Gracie. We almost lost Gracie.

If people think they know better please get out there and show us all how it’s done.

I’d go on but I’m getting upset and there’s no sense getting upset about something on the Internet. If I did that I’d spend life in a perpetual state of upset ness.

The tough thing for Gracie is that she lost so many different things during her break that she was great at before. When she improves a few of those things, her deficiences in other areas still stand out. In the SP, her spins looked good, her jumps looked stronger, and her speed across the ice was noticeably better. In the LP we saw her struggle executing the wider variety of triples necessary and closing out the program strong. If she wasn't working hard we wouldn't see any improvements at all, but she is getting better IMO.

I watch it and considering what she have been throught in 2017 with that program that it finished the season in a bad way at national 2017.

I must say I enjoy the program and I'm happy that she bring it back.

I certainly thing that Gracie was looking to comeback this program for a therapeutic reason : Maybe she love that program and want to show us that she will be able to skate this program in a much positive way than in 2017.

I wish that Gracie continue to make some other competition to push herself and bring the best version of that program at national.

It would be epic if she is able to make that program better than in 2017.

I wish her the best and it would be cool if she is able to bring back that golden dress from the past.

That golden dress was perfect for that program.

I love the program and hope to see improvement at the end of the season.

Go Gracie !

Does Gracie have to compete at Regionals? Which region? Is it possible/likely she won't even be able to get out of Regionals?

Just saw Audrey Shin skate her new FS to Moonlight Sonata, way better than her SP yesterday but with some URs and shaky landings. Similar cut to Sasha Cohen's and it included a voice-over of a lady speaking(?).

Hanna Harrell also skated her FS to Turandot. Good first half but shaky second half with some pops and a fall IIRC.

I am not sure they are having Regionals this year. Ice coverage will know. She’s made it to Nationals the past two years (once out of Regionals/Sectionals and once out of the tapes they had to send in). She didn’t compete in summer comps in 2019 either. Looks like she’s doing at least 3 this year. So I mean anything is possible. But I think she’s likely to make Nationals again.

If there are Regionals it is whatever region Iceworks is in. They had it at Iceworks in 2019. She got the bronze but didn’t have the qualifying score so people decided she wouldn’t make the qualifying score. So she went to Sectionals, placed third and made the qualifying score.
