At this point it's probably too late for her but, she is being poorly coached and is clearly under-training, There are so many coaches would love to work with her and I don't know why she is where she is. I thought it was because these coaches made her happy but, you can't tell that from her performances.
I agree she's undertraining, but given her consistent issues with her opening jumps, it's also obvious she's got a massive mental block going on too.

I agree. That's why I think she needs to do full run-throughs of her programs when she's in practice. The more she trains full runs of her programs, the less the nerves and stamina will be an issue.

I would think Gabby Izzo still has a shot, especially if she does well tomorrow.
On warm up Izzo was hitting all the jumps, and they were beautiful. If Paige can bring it tomorrow though, I think the slot is hers. I'm not sure there is really any opportunity for a redo for any of them. Audrey is making wonderful progress after her injury, but I don't think she is quite ready, or near 100% with the jumps.

Gracie has always had trouble with competition nerves. Not everyone is a natural competitor and age has only made that worse.

Mariah SP is terrible. I like Mariah but Adam doesn't know how to choreograph for her. She is has lovely glide across the ice and an effervescent quality. This program was choreographed for Adam not Mariah. It would highlight his strengths. It doesn't highlight Mariah's.

Alysa is such a stable competitor. I enjoyed her SP. Performances like this probably guarantee her a spot on the Olympic team.

In terms of pure effortless power and emotional, Amber wins. I don't like her program but , unlike Mariah, she sells the emotion well. I think the hard fall on the 3A in warmup shocked her quite a bit. But, she didn't pop anything. She went for everything. I think as the season progresses she will get this SP clean. She has learned to fight, she used to be a terrible competitor.

Audrey is lovely. But, I guess I don't respond to her skating like others do. She URs a lot. Even prior to injury, it was a problem. Hopefully, she will continue to improve.

Gabby has potential but her SP here was not strong. I think she needs more speed.

Alysa was great! I like the style of the music, the choreography is very fitting, she has great energy and attitude from beginning to end, and the clean triple-triple was encouraging.
I feel bad for Mariah, it's clear she can commit to a lot of choreography, but compared to Alysa's music hers comes off so un-Olympic. I don't inherenty have a problem with skaters using pop music, but it's the fourth year in a row she's made that choice for the sp, so there's no novelty left in it for her. It doesn't give us a reason to look at her again. I don't rlly like these songs on their own, maybe people who do like the program more? It seems to me the only competition she's trying to score well at is Nationals - I don't know how she could think international or Olympic judges are going to be blown away by Gaga.
Amber's program was a bit of a let down choreography-wise, even if she skates it clean I can't imagine caring about it past the triple axel attempt. It was close to downgraded here, does anyone know if she was landing cleaner ones in the practice?

I agree. However, her prior issues had nothing to do with Stamina. She always had a look of concentration until the jumps were done and then she'd light up. Now, she has look of terror which is why I think she's under trained and unhappy. I hope I'm wrong about the last part.

The battle for the TBD spot at SKAM is now between Paige and Audrey. I think Nebelhorn is in Alysa's bag if she doesn't make any major mistakes. Mariah's SP was... :slink:. Hoping Alysa gets sent to Nebelhorn and Audrey to SKAM.
What about Gracie if she wins this competition surely the US would send her to Skate America. Even if she placeafter Mariah and Alysa but beats the rest of the Americans wouldn't she bea strong choice for SKAM?

Mariah program, I like the concept of the program. But, I think the special effect on the music rain on me is too much. Why not just stick with the original rain on me for the step sequence and remove all of thoses strange dj music effect ? Like in the layback spin it's just the original music rain on me and to me it enjoyable only there because it's the original music. But on the step sequence the music need to be rework in my opinion.

But for real, if I would recycle a program for Mariah it would be her britney spears program, the step sequence was a delight compare to this strange dj upbeat with gaga.

Mariah and Amber need to switch SP's and then they would each have appropriate for them choreo. Mariah is more lyrical, Amber needs something strong, fast and sassy.

I think slow is good for Amber, she's had an issue with popping jumps in the past, if she's having to be slower on the ice that might help prevent the popping.

I don’t know. I think her effortless power is her best quality. I really dislike Misha Ge choreo in general but especially for Amber who is capable of speed that most women figure skaters aren’t. I would embrace that quality.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be humorous? But Gracie is in 15th place after the short. Given the problems she's having with stamina and mental blocks, I would expect a similar performance in the long program. She's done.
