CLARE WAS* DONE DIRTY. She deserved higher PCS 😾 PE, IN and SS should've been noticeably higher than Lindsay's (who also did well!). I was shook at her StSq, it was so powerful! Also, I'm in LOVE with her spins, the positions are magnificent 💗
I have to agree. She did a really nice Lutz/Toe at the end of that program and she was lovely throughout. Another "New To Me" Junior Skater. I had no idea our Junior Women were skating at this level and it's a very pleasant surprise.

Both girls skated great, Clare obviously has much more expression and was charming to watch during the step sequence. But Lindsey seems like the best jumper we have coming up, is extre3nely flexible with a great line that gives her a bit of a wow factor - if she could work on her expression, she would be the complete package imo and an extremely competitive senior after the Olympics.

I'm so curious to see how the US junior ladies will shake out on the JGP circuit this year. Isabeau and (to a lesser extent) Lindsay seem to be the clear fed favorites but I could definitely see international judges preferring Clare.
Perhaps, she is a lovely skater. I think both Lindsay and Isabeau have several points higher BV in the LP which is where they tend to gain ground on Clare. However, Clare backloaded her comb here which she wasn't doing in domestic competitions, so she might be trying to improve her BV.

Yay that was a competition without any detailed judge information. Even Bell had a bad LP where she had two falls(?) and she still won over Bredie, Amber, Alysa. So why should Toyta sponsor an athlete who wasn't favoured by USFA ? USFA gave Bell so much previlege last season in such small competitions and hyped Bell. But she failed to Alysa in the "big" competitons that have fair judges , open selection, detailed score protocols like U.S Champs.
Well, to be fair, Alysa was losing in early competitions because she wasn't very good.

She was just coming off a growth spurt that messed with every aspect of her skating. At one of these fluff-fests, she was only performing doubles. Simply put, she didn't deserve to win - and that's no fault of her own.

But by later in the season, she had begun to bring it all together. At US Nationals, she barely resembled the skater we saw earlier in the season.

Judges on the JGP rarely differentiate much between skaters in PCS in the SP. They just reward clean programs. So, Clare and Lindsay got somewhat similar scores since they had the cleanest programs. Clare has such lovely speed in and out of her jumps and her StepSeq was wonderful. I definitely would have given her higher PCS. But, judges didn't make much distinction. This was demonstrated in both the women's SP and the men's. As much as Ilya has improved, he didn't not deserve PCS scores that were higher than Corey's.

That being said, I suspect that Lindsay still has the advantage in the LP due to her higher BV and her consistency. She is a very calm competitor. Her jumps also have more pop despite her lack of speed into them.

Maybe, Clare will prove me wrong. I would be happy to be proven wrong!

Both young women should be proud of themselves.

IMO, the US shouldn't be sending the best skaters to SVK, seeing as how that event is packed with 4 Russians in Men, Women and Dance. I'm surprised the Canadians are sending Circelli there.

I don't understand this logic - wouldn't it be a good idea to know where the best the US has to offer is going to stack up against some of the best from Russia before they get to the Final or Junior Worlds?

I think the assignments were already out by the time the change was made, wasn’t it? But they may be able to switch them around - I guess we’ll see.

I wouldn't be surprised if they move Lindsey and Mia to other events. But it might also depend on the athletes' schedules (they may have preferences for certain dates if they have school or other obligations) and preferences (someone might really want to skate in Russia, or to experience such a competitive field).

It still might make a difference. PCS and GOE are often awarded based on reputation and where the judges think a skater belongs in the standings before they even skate. Lindsey going into this competition as the presumed winner vs going into a competition as a maybe medalist will probably be reflected in the subjective aspects of the scoring.

Well done to Lindsay and Clare! Lindsay seems very solid. The voiceover though... someone kill it, please  I didn't really like Clare's free, especially in comparison to the great SP she has for this season. It seems URs might be a problem for her. I'm also surprised she has 3A, as her axel doesn't seem that big. Still, a very good international debut for her! She has so many beautiful qualities 🥰 Probably smart of Lindsay to not go full-out with her tech, as she just had to skate cleanly with 3Lz-3T and 2As.
