Does she match Kostornaya? Kostornaya skates big and fast compared to Liu. If Tuk executes 3As cleanly, she probably would score better than Liu as well. But, I think Tuk does need to skate clean to hold off Liu in top form.
It really depends on which Kostornaia shows up. 2 seasons ago, I thought she'd be the top Russian heading into the Olympics and last year she didn't make the World Team. It is safe to say that Alysa is the only US Lady that poses any threat to the Russian and Japanese Ladies.

I think if Alysa is consistently the highest scoring US woman she will be fine even if she’s only placing fifth or sixth at her GP assignments.
Well, it would be nice to see her head into the Games with some Wins or at least comparable scores with the top ladies. She'll need a record of International Success to have momentum as she heads into the Games. A win at US Nationals is nice but, the International wins are what she'll need to be in the mix at the Games.

True but I was thinking more in terms of her making the Olympic team in general. To be in contention for a medal at the Olympics she would need more of course.

Kostornaia and Liu seem to be really getting back on track. Kostornaia has stronger jumps when she gets them, and overall strong and beautiful skating. Liu has improved her PCS so much, and has a really lovely presence on the ice. If Kostornaia skates solid, she could very well finish ahead. Tuk has a great SP with strong artistry, and it is something that she can really pull off well.

Right. I was suggesting he did something beneficial. Choreography, off Ice conditioning, extra ice time…something. Because he has improved a tremendous amount. In my opinion.

A triple axel for Starr would be fabulous!

And so happy for Hanna! Is there an archive or an amateur video?
Misha Ge has her SP on his IG. I just saw the post, and it's pretty decent footage.

She looked pretty good. Not her feisty self; she seemed more methodical, which is completely understandable as she comes back. But I thought it looked promising and that her score was good for only doing a -2T combo (unless I'm not seeing it correctly, and it's a -3T.

Good for Hanna. Love seeing these inspiring young ladies. I’m confused by the lack of costume, but the StSq is really nice and makes good use of the music.

a few thoughts...

i wish Karen would work on her air position. she gets so much height and air time in her jumps but she URs because she doesn't get into position quick enough, and her final air position is too loose. i have no idea if she does work on this but this would majorly help the UR problem. i also think i am a bit bored with her packaging...her team does the same thing over and over each year, and i would like to at least see a different style of dress on her. they seem extremely similar each year and half the time i'm wondering if she's using an old dress.

if Alysa keeps skating consistently this season, especially with the way the other US women are looking right now, her scores will skyrocket. it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to deny her an olympic spot, even if the others show up at nationals.

when will we see Amber next? the clips she posts on her instagram are amazing, she looks SO in shape and confident. i'm hoping she will bring something exciting to the table this season to set her apart from the other women.

i've honestly lost hope with Starr. as i've said before, she should have changed coaches a long time ago. the triple axel will not help her at all and IMO it's a waste of time. i'd love to see her go to someone that will elevate her overall skating and work on speed, skating skills, posture, confidence, upping the technical arsenal and consistency. i really just don't understand what she and her team are doing at this point.

with the shape that everyone is in right now and what we've seen so far, i am starting to think Lindsay has a shot. i thought this was crazy talk a few weeks ago, but it's definitely starting to look like a possibility.

I agree 100%. Though it is still early, Alysa has already demonstrated that she is ahead of the rest of the US Ladies technically. Her Component marks are rising and I don't see any US Lady beating a clean Alysa. I wish all of our Ladies the best of luck this season but, I think the fight will be for spots 2 and 3.

I don't know what to make of Starr. It should be clear by now that her current situation is not working. I know it may seem late in her career but, she will only be 26 in 2026. If her true goal is to make the Olympic Team, she has GOT to make a coaching change. I keep brining up Alyssa Czisny but, her best years were after she left her long time coach and switched to Yuka and Jason.

Lucky for the veterans that Isabeau Levito is too young to go to the Olympics she may be young but she doesn't skate like a Junior and she lands her jumps consistently which you can't say for most of the top US Ladies.

I agree. I hope she remains injury free as she gets older. She is such a lovely skater and a great performer for being so young.

Amber skates next at Finlandia, then Skate America. I'm with you, I am crossing my fingers SO HARD. Seriously sending all good energy her way.

Mia Kalin and Kate Wang have officially been assigned to JGP Poland and JGP Austria respectively. Kalin will join Clare Seo and Wang will join Isabeau Levito in representing Team USA.

Thus, here are the junior women who received two assignments:
- Isabeau Levito
- Lindsay Thorngren
- Ava Marie Ziegler
- Clare Seo
- Kate Wang
- Mia Kalin

A list of the women who received one assignment:
- Josephine Lee
- Maryn Pierce

Kanon Smith, the silver-medalist at Junior Nationals, seems to be injured (my hypothesis, not at all confirmed) as she has not competed at all on the Junior Grand Prix circuit. Smith's last competition was Skate Milwaukee back in July.

This is the only explanation that would make sense to me. I have to think Kanon would've gotten at least one assignment if she was ready and able to compete. It's a shame, she's such a talent.

Very happy for Mia and Kate though! Mia's up against a very stacked field in Poland so it'll be interesting to see how she does.

Well, with Alysa's improvements, she should at least be on an even playing field in terms of PCS with the other Americans. Bradie and Mariah aren't PCS queens with impeccable skating skills. A clean no-3axel Alysa will beat them now. It's like the opposite effect with Kostornaia. She was winning over Anna and Sasha based on her much stronger PCS. Do you really think a three quad program from Anna will now be held down compared to Alyona? I don't. I think Alyona has lost her edge on the second mark, just like Alysa's US competitors. And 3axels won't cut it anymore, if she wants to win.
