Yeah but they are trying to earn every point they can with her tech and I am beginning to think they might actually construct a program that can really compete for an Olympic podium spot.
Oh, I agree. Also, the first 2a is a placeholder for a 3a. Once she has a second 3a(combo), the three jump combo will become 3lz1e3s, and the 2a will be removed from sequence.

Happy Birthday to Amber Glenn! 🎂

@Sjs5572, I have friendly questions for you regarding Alysa's pronouns:

I find it helpful that USFS has started including pronouns in skater bios.
I am happy to do my best to remember to use correct pronouns, such as "They/Them" for Timothy LeDuc.

For Alysa's pronouns, the USFS bio says: "She/They."
Sorry if I am dumb, but my honest questions:
Is the idea that in certain situations, the correct pronoun (nominative case) for Alysa would be "She" -- but in other situations, the correct pronoun (nominative case) for Alysa would be "They?"
If I want to use the correct pronoun to refer to Alysa, how would I know when "She" would be correct vs. when "They" would be correct?

To my understanding, she/they pronouns means that Alysa is comfortable with both she/her and they/them pronouns. You can use either set and not necessarily a combination of both unless you want to.

I hope she proves me wrong, I don't think this quad lutz will be rotated... Or maybe we'll see a regression and she'll prerotate with full blade assist..
I mean that's pretty much how all women's quad lutzes are so it would make sense if her team didn't see any reason for her to focus on perfecting the technique when judges simply do not care and actively reward cheated jumps

I just made my Skate Can predictions and put Alysa in third...but have a hunch she should be second and I may change my predictions. I think that's a very possible placement for her even if Valieva, Tuktamysheva, and Kostornaia all skate pretty well.

If one pays $40 for a year's subscription one can remove the ads. I'm sorry Goldenskate has decided to allow this to happen. Some of us cannot afford this so we have to deal with the annoyance.

I'm not an expert on revenue streams for websites, but I do know it's not a matter of "allowing it to happen" and more of a necessity given the cost of maintaining websites and minor revenue streams from paying members. Sites also tend to have limited control over the impact on the user experience, even if they *really wish* they did. I know not everyone can afford to pay the yearly subscription, so the annoyance there is real.

I don't think Alysa can beat more than one Russian lady at Skate Canada (Aliona seems to be the one she's most likely to beat) without more triple axels. Just comparing scores, Alysa was pretty much perfectly clean at Lombardia Trophy, where she landed an underrotated triple axel and had her 3Lz+3T in the second half called underrotated in the free program, and scored 219.24 overall. In comparison, Aliona messed up pretty significantly at Finlandia, stepping out of an underrotated triple axel, stepping out on a triple lutz, and messing up on her jump math to get a 3Lz+REP at the end of the program. Even with all those mistakes and a lackluster performance as a result, Aliona's total was 218.83, not even a point lower than Alysa's. If Aliona's just a little cleaner, she outscores a clean Alysa handily.

For Alysa to really challenge at Skate Canada, one triple axel is not enough, and she knows this, which is why the triple axel is in both the short and free program, and the quad lutz also seems likely to make a return. Only if she lands those jumps (even just landing them underrotated would be a big help, a landed UR triple axel is worth a point more than a double axel), does she have a chance at medaling.

I guess that Alysa is more comfortable with riskier elements now that she achieved a score that put her in one the the upper groups for World/Olympic selection. The more opportunities she gets to try the 3A and 4Lz in competition, the better.

Well I get the first part but it states in the upgrade section that if you pay it's ad free so yes they can control that.

Going beyond what figures2001 said, i have also seen it phrased as "Pronouns I use" for this type of thing, which i think is a slightly more clear message. And to be honest how i interpreted pronoun preferences.

I would be grateful to see Alysa place in the Top 6 at Skate Canada. With how stacked the field is, scoring 220+ might not even result in a medal. Lee Haein, Wakaba, and others could spoil medal possibilities. Additionally, Lombardia seems to historically score VERY generously. Therefore, I see Alysa's scores at Nebelhorn as being more indicative of how international judges will score her: 205-210 range. If Alysa adds the triple-Axel in both the short and long programs, then I think she has an outside chance of scoring 225-235 barring an onslaught of under-rotation calls. Karen has the ability to lay down a gauntlet this weekend by scoring 205-210 and placing within the Top 6. If Karen manages to consistently score 200+ and continues to perform well, there is no reason the U.S. federation will leave her off the team, especially with an injured Tennell. I think Karen's two Grand Prix events will either make or break her bid for a spot on the team.

I think Alysa may be on an upward trend though in terms of scores. Agree that she'll need the triple axels to beat more than one of the top three (Valieva, Tuktamysheva, and Kostornaia, and I don't see her beating Valieval at all).

Right, if you're able to pay the subscription, it's ad free. But for the users who do get ads, I believe the site owner can't control everything about the user experience and how disruptive the ads are or aren't. Someone can correct me if they know more on this. I'm sure the site owner would not be doing the subscriptions at all if it weren't financially necessary.

My experience on other sites is that they can control the ads and how they appear. One can choose partial removal or total for different fees.

Quite a strong media push ahead of Alysa's senior GP debut... here's another article, this time from Team USA, which highlights Alysa as one of ten athletes to watch at the upcoming Olympics (and shockingly does not feature Nathan???).
:drama:Wow, Does it talk about any of the Men? Do they mention that Vincent just defeated Nathan and that Nathan will want to regain his edge on the field with a win in Canada. That would be my headline for the Men.
