Happy to see Gracie looking good. But can we please stop giving Karen chances at international competitions when she cannot land a 3-3 in the SP to save her life? So over it.
True but her PCS still make her top 5. Her PCS is the highest of US ladies (IIRC) and that is already making a statement from international judges to USFS

Also I disagree on putting Alysa on both. We already saw what happen when Julia did that in 2014

Pardon the cynicism but today was a good day for the Olympic team hopefuls....who did not skate today
At this rate, they are going to be begging Bradie to come back and perform from her bed. Haha

Joking aside, none of the the young guns have seized the opportunity in The Champ’s absence.

Even Gracie is figuring, screw this, I’m a contender too. Haha

My apologies for not remembering who it is, but someone mentioned earlier that the US ladies shouldn’t be in the places with the French skaters. Kind of sums it up nicely. Not to pour salt in the wounds, but it’s not even the best French skater either.

But it's not like Alysa is a medal favorite. After her showings on the Grand Prix, it's clear that she's a very very outside shot. She would have to clean up all her underrotations and hope that the Russian, Japanese, and Korean ladies really mess up. Alysa is by far the best option for the team event based on how the US ladies have performed on the fall competition circuit.

If Gracie makes her way onto the Olympic Team, I think it would be the biggest accomplishment of career.
Unless she wins Nationals, I don't see how that could happen given the various requirements for skaters to post multiple strong scores throughout the season. Given her past results, Gracie might have made the world team last year if she performed like Amber did at Nationals, but the selection criteria are much more rigid this season.

Angelique Abachkina. She's an ice dancer but not competing at IdF--probably just there to support Romain, which I'd imagine makes it even worse for Mariah.
Mariah looked beautiful for her SP, in a simple elegant dress. The program itself?Well, very 'Mariah y', very lovely, and for me uninspired and uninteresting. More like a gala/exhibition program with very little choreographic substance.
Yes, this is a very lean year for US women's skating, but not just the US, but Canada as well. Nor do I see anything changing in the next quad.

Why does dance have to be split?
Dance doesn't have to be split, but I think we can all agree that dance deserves to be split far more than ladies. Chock/Bates and Hubbell/Donohue both deserve a team event medal far more than any of the US ladies for their long and illustrious careers representing the US at Grand Prixs, 4CC, and Worlds. Furthermore, the dance event is closer to the team event than the ladies event, so this way one team won't be exhausted. There also isn't a huge difference between putting H/D or C/B in either section, they would place similarly. I can't say the same for ladies, where Alysa is far and away the highest scoring lady. It would make far more sense to split dance than to split ladies.

Sadly, I agree. However, none of the US Ladies ( Except Alysa ) have a BOW to knock Gracie off the team should she medal. With Bradie injured, Karen is the final lady with a Championship. I don't expect Gracie to be "Held Up" but, If she skates a blinder, all bets are off.

If Bradie is not healthy. If Bradie manages to get close to her former form, she has demonstrated much higher consistent scores than Alysa or any other US woman. We also still need to see Mariah skate before making any definitive statements.

However, US men and ice dance have much more depth than women skating even US pairs are stronger than the woman. Thus, I do think it is likely that one woman will skate both segments. Alysa is definitely the front runner at this time.
Agree on Bradie but not on Mariah. Just like Karen and Amber, Mariah is also very inconsistent throughout her whole career including poor showings at Cranberry event. Mariah went to World 3 times and she placed 12th place TWICE. If Alysa team worries that Alysa may get burn out for doing both Sp and Lp, Lindsay and Healthy Bradie are still the best choice then.

I agree ... if Grace medals ( I know is almost a dream) ... There is no skater who will take her place in the Olympic team for 2 main reasons: none of the other skaters are consistent enough (except alisa) to be chosen and everyone loves a reborn phenix (someone who never gave up skating in spite of everything). I'd say most people would cheer for her .... and that's always important.

Gracie Gold did not have the skate she wanted but she definitely showed huge improvements.

3Lz3T (hand down), 1Lo, 2A, 3S, 3Lz, 1F, 2A2T2Lo

Gracie's spins and step sequence were gorgeous and her skating did not look laborious. Gracie scored 108 in the Free for a total competition score of 175, her best total score since 2017 US Nationals.

As long as she won the event, that's what I'll focus on. So proud of her.
