Is Alysa not even going to make it for the opening ceremony? This might be her one and only time at an Olympics so why is she still in LA?

Wow what a rude thing to say. I guess a lot of people must have been pretty embarrassed last worlds then. And both of them did do 3/3 at nationals.
But not in bonus time. Mariah/Karen never did 3/3 in second half program. That's make a huge difference in earning Base value points. Anna did multiple 3/3 in bonus time, she was able to make Rus nat podium without quad and 3A. I don't expect Alysa can beat all Russians, Japanese, and Koreans. I just hope that she won't place behind Mariah and Karen at Olympics.

I had the same thought.. But she seems fine in practice, she did a 3Lz-3T today. But it´s often something different performing the FS, it takes a lot of energy and breath. I hope she is fine.
This might also explain why Karen was on the first plane (they expected that she would be in better shape than the other two). It's all starting to make sense now.

It’s fine to hope Alysa places ahead of them but it won’t be “embarrassing” if she doesn’t. I will be happy for Alysa wherever she places for coming this far and even making it to the Olympics after the major growth spurt she had. It’s a huge accomplishment in itself.

Alysa is in LA for team processing. Maybe she could still be doing the team event?
Doubt it. The other skaters have been practicing on Olympic ice for days already, which would give them a solid advantage to get a feel for it ahead of time. If she was going to do the team event, they would have flown her out earlier.

And if COVID prevented her from leaving earlier, than it’s unlikely that the USFS is going to change course with their plan (especially with Karen and Mariah looking good in practice). If she has a consistent 3A again I could see it, but without it just wouldn’t make sense.

Yeah considering jet lag and lack of Ice time it is doubtful.

💯💯💯

I understand people have favorites and I do too, but there is no need to be rude or bash other US figure skaters to make your statements. Figure skating is on a slippery ice - anything can happen that day. Why can’t we just enjoy the event than assuming all of them will lose to Russian (possible/probable but not guarantee or confirm)? Why must we be the final judge when all of them spent their whole life training for this moment on the center stage?

This is sad for me. When you add jet lag to the fatigue that comes with COVID, I think it's best for Alysa to skip the team event. However, if she is feeling 100 percent, I still think she is the best lady we have. Big question, will Christy Krall be there with her?

Also, not everything is about winning medals. I will personally be overjoyed if Mariah, Karen and Alysa all have clean (or even mostly clean) skates at the Olympics regardless of placements.

Well I think the if the Fed is considering her they should do a skate off of complete programs between everyone. Its been said before - whoever does the team even is pretty much guaranteed a medal of some color, what skater is going to admit they aren't capable of doing the team event?
