China targeted dad of Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu

Yikes, scary stuff:oops:

3 are arrested but 2 are still at large.

Prosecutors allege Ziburis was hired by co-defendant Quiang "Jason" Sun to surveil Arthur Liu and to gather information about him and his daughter that was not readily available on the internet, like their social security numbers.

According to court documents, Ziburis said in written communications obtained by prosecutors that performing the job would be "very easy" and asked to be paid $3,700 for his work.

Ziburis was arrested on Tuesday in the Eastern District of New York on charges of conspiring to commit interstate harassment and criminal use of a means of identification.

Not really. Everthing thus far indicates that Alysa's father moved her because he wasn't happy with her performances. Her former coaches describe themselves as "fired".
Honestly, nobody knows the reasons except Arthur himself. We are NOT Arthur. We don't know what he went through in November. It could be performance reason. It could be security threat reason. It could be a combination of BOTH (security threat AND performance). The only thing for sure is dorm in Colorado is safer than California home before Ziburis was arrested. Someone on twitter spotted Alysa had training session with Jeremy in California rink 2 weeks ago. Alysa's current coach situation remains mystery.

She did it. Alysa did that.

I was about to recall ALL the times that a few people came from other threads spamming on how she could NEVER EVER EVAH have a remote chance at getting into the World Podium bc of such and such skater. But then I thought, pfff, Alysa does a better job at demonstrating everyone that she shouldn't be written off. Congratulations to all girls from every nation doing her best at this wonderfully joyful event. AND (-drumroll-) a well deserved extra round of applause for the one and only, World Bronze Medalist Miss Alysa Liu herself.

I’m a Mariah apologist but Alysa really delivered today. I suppose there’s a nice poetry to the fact that the season closes with each of the top three ladies enjoying a laurel: Mariah the U.S. title; Karen the Olympic team medal; and, now, Alysa the Worlds podium.

It will be interesting to see what decisions each of the ladies and Bradie make next year. It seems like Mariah peaked technically back in the 2019-2020 season and performances like those today are the cap of her physical capabilities. Almost medaling at Worlds and remaining competitive on the GP circuit without a reliable 3-3, though, are impressive in and of itself. I can see her coming back for another year or two since she would still be competitive domestically for about that length of time, maybe reviving her Chromatica routine and just going for fun programs next year.

Perhaps Alysa may find the medal today a satisfying conclusion to at least this round of her career.
