Am I the only one who likes Kaori's program？

For the first, I thought it was not good; however, she has been growing as a strong & independent woman. It is very appropriate for Olympic program.
(TBH, I like anything Kaori does She is my ideal daughter in law)

The SP in Team requires reliability, Because there are more points to be lost
And Wakaba has a higher scoring potential if she does the 3A,
But Kaori is very reliable, And I don't think that any of them,
3A or no, Is getting 10 points in that event

Just on that alone I'm thinking Kaori for SP to secure those 9 points
And Wakaba does the Free for probably also 9 points, Worst case 8
If it's an iffy skate and the American Lady excels

Kaori for the FS 100%.

For the SP, it depends on who JSF decided on the 3rd slot. For Wakaba, would JSF pressure her into doing the 3A in the SP? How will she handle that pressure of the first ever Team Medal for Japan?

Do they have to split the singles though? Could they just have Kaori skate both segments?

Considering he’s coming back from injury, I think he may save his energy and skip team. I’ve not looked at the schedule, but that may influence his and the federation’s decision.

That was my thoughts exactly. They tend to give the more reliable skaters the SP because you are up against 9 other skaters. More points are up for grabs. With Wakaba, I worry that if she pops or falls on the 3A in the SP, that she will fall behind an American and someone else. Meanwhile, in the free skate, she can fight with the rest of the jumps and doesn’t jeopardize Japan’s chances of a medal, as much.

That's not a given at all. Three points better at Nationals doesn't necessarily overcome the significantly higher scores that Mihara had on the Grand Prix circuit. I really wouldn't be so confident in the JSF giving the Olympics spot to someone that didn't even have a Grand Prix assignment at the start of the season, on account of eking out a podium place over Mihara.

So, I’m assuming team Japan won’t send their Olympic team to 4CC.

So, Kaori, Wakaba and Mana for the Olympics
Mai, Satoko and Rinka for 4CC
Rino and Rion for Junior Worlds

I’d be happy if all of the top 8 get an assignment and this list works

Then, they can send Kaori, Wakaba, whichever one of the remaining 4 top 6 girls that performed the best, at their respective events, to Worlds.

Mai now has a way into the Olympics: with the second-highest score on the GP circuit for the Japanese women, she can technically be selected for the Olympics. (I think it might happen, the JSF wants people who can deliver clean skates at the Olympics and Mai can do that). Personally, I think Mana shot herself in the foot a bit with several tiny mistakes as opposed to one major one like Mai. It made her skating appear a tad bit more juniorish. But Mana will certainly be getting some intnl assignments, and she is going to grow so much over the next quad. I can't wait to see where she goes.

And in the individual event She very likely won't
