Ooh a new ice dance center using the IAM method in Europe?

I think, just in case you were being serious, (no emojis, can’t tell ;)) most folks know the second IAM center is in London Ont. I do, and I‘m not an ice dance diehard. :)

and i would add that IAM's Dubreuil-Lauzon learned their craft in Lyon, France... So while it would be great for an Ice dance center to operate in Spain, it's not like IAM reinvented the wheel and exporting it to Europe... ... though, of course, they do have their style.

Sara Hurtado and Kiril Jalyavin have also announced their retirement from competition today 🥲 Unfortunately it looks like Spain will have no senior ice dance couple this year.

Oh god I just read about this and had the same thought :( How sad - from 2 teams at top 10 at Europeans to not having anybody participate. I thought Olivia might continue, but it seems from her latest Instagrampost that she is done too :(

And with the confirmation that both Senior partnerships have retired, it is even more of a shame that Junior partnership Val / Vitryanyuk split.

Any word yet on whether Sofía has found a new partner? She'll be turning 18 in November, so if she gets a new partner, they may go straight into Seniors.

Or Nikita? That said, unless he finds a new partner in Spain, I suspect that Nikita will be representing a different country. After all, Sofia was the only reason he was competing for Spain. (PLEASE, come back to Cyprus!)

Someone on the Russian forum insinuated that she’d had a tryout with Aleksandr Gnedin who was last spotted out-of-competition with Darja Netjaga for Estonia last August. But no indication on whether it worked out or not.

Thank you for the info.

I saw on Sofia's Instagram page that she had COVID in February, so I assume that any try-out was more recent than that.

I just looked up Gnedin, and he and Netjaga have actually done at least one competition together. They were runners-up in Senior Ice Dance at the Tallinn Open in December. Admittedly, there were only 2 entries, but they were within 1.2 points of the winners in the SD. It was in the FD that they were further behind, by about 5 points.

Nevertheless, if Sasha and Sofía do partner up, that he has competed at Senior level very recently may be a good indication that they would go straight into Seniors. And it would be a good plan, given that Spain has two slots and nobody to fill them.

On the other hand, I see that both Sofía and Sasha still have their profiles up on Ice Partner Search, so it may not have worked out.

Whether they partner up or not, I'm sure everything will become clear in the next couple of months.

Yes, the one where Scott Moir coaches. I can see them franchising their model and with some of their skaters turning to coaching - not a crazy idea.

Hello, I'm new- don't know if this is the right place to mention this, but Madison Hubbell said on an IG live that she's moving to London, ON and implied it's for coaching, and this morning she posted stories in a new apartment without furniture as well as a throwback story from an old presser saying she planned to stay in the sport after retirement which was tagged "IAM", so it seems she might be joining IAM Ontario

Wow that’s great news! She’ll be a great addition to that coaching team!
