I've gotten the impression that the younger sister (Alana?) likes skating, but not really at a high competitive level. Most of her competitions have been rather half hearted and going through the motions. Veronika will have to start at the bottom next year-with qualifiers etc.

She has never been one of the top girls in her her age group (2010), if we are being honest the reason she gets the attention she gets and the expectation of being a medal contender is cause she is Nikas younger sister. In reality she has never made it to novice nats before, barely made it out of sp at last year moscow qualifiers and this year she didn't make it out of sp. But considering she has a 3A, im pretty sure she or at least her mom want her to have a competitive career like her sister.

She looked better last year, hasn't competed at all this season and apparently has had an injury so I dont think this is her normal level but she definitely is not one of the top 5 or maybe even 10 promising skaters when it comes to the girls born in 2010.

Well, tbh, something I've noticed is that in a family where there is more than one kid who skates competitively, only 1 of them will achieve any real success and be competitive on a high level. I don't know why it's like that, and I'm sure there are some examples of skating siblings who could prove this wrong, but that's just what I've noticed with most. In the case of the Zhilina sisters, that sibling is Veronika. Alena is a lovely skater, but she is almost 12, and at her age, Veronika was already much more advanced.

I just think it's natural that siblings who undergo certain activities on a higher than regular level are not necessarily of the same talent and skills just because they're brothers and sisters. And you are right, there are many examples of where skating siblings compete on the same higher level, such as the Selevko brothers, the Dodds family, Brendan and Chantelle Kerry (albeit different disciplines, they both qualify for top events), Jorik and Loena Hendrickx, to name but a few.
I reckon you don't mean siblings who form successful ice dance or pair teams, of which there was always a good number on the go.
