No but they're the top skaters. (Also it's not like Evgenia made it to the Olympic season unscathed either and Alina certainly struggled at World's that year as well.)

I'm responding to people who are saying that skaters 5+ are ALSO going to dominate and it's not going to be contested. I'm NOT and have NEVER referred to Anna, Sasha, Aliona, and Kamila. (In fact I went out of my way to exempt them - I specifically said none of those three have EVER been beaten by nonRussian skaters internationally.)

However, just as Anna, Sasha, and Aliona weren't at their peak this year due to injuries and illnesses I also am extending that to Rika as well. As she has proven herself capable - maybe not of beating them - but she remains a threat to skaters 5+ and if all are at full strength and healthy is not to be discounted. (But once again I NEVER mentioned Anna, Sasha, Aliona, and Kamila in anything I said.)
It would be just nice if for once esp. russian ladies would have won without comments of the kind "But Rika wasn't OK right now/they were backed politically/it's the covid fault" or whatever lame excuse. I wonder how many times they will have to win to be finally taken seriously. Like: "They won. Congrats. Dot."

I thought you were old enough not to believe in miracles.

I never once said that. In fact, I also said Anna ALSO wasn't at full strength. And I'm not sure how much Sasha was either - we know she was injured. Aliona wasn't even there and not close to her full potential.

In fact, I was actually talking about first Evgenia, and then Anna, Sasha, and Aliona when I was mentioning injuries and illness. (I just also mentioned Rika too because she was also injured.)

I want ALL of them healthy. I never once said that Rika didn't win because she was injured. In fact, I was the one who argued she didn't have the tech content at full strength to challenge an in form healthy Anna and Sasha. However, ALL of them weren't at full strength. Weren't you even the person who argued that Anna peaked FOR nationals??? You can't have it both ways. In fact, if anything, I was using the argument FOR Anna.

What is this heresy?!?

Where is Kami? Or Aliona for that matter. I don't know who made this video, but I call for inquisition! 😠 That person must either repent or be burned at the stakes 😦🔥
It's probably because the creator(s) aimed at seniors. Do not take it seriously, after all there are even some inaccuracies in the commentary.

Tuktik just posted a 4Lz on harness on insta.

I think this is a proof that you can indeed jump anything on harness and it does not mean much.

Yeah definitely, I never pay attention when someone says "so and so landed "x jump" in harness!" Everyone needs to start somewhere obviously but I'll be interested when you can land it without assistance.

I still don't understand why Liza is learning a 4Lz instead of stabilising the 4T. I get that it's for personal fulfilment but that comes into conflict with her goal of making the Olympics. She has never done a clean 4T in competition and now she wants to add a 4Lz?

Mishin come get your student!

I’m also curious why she’s doing it now. It might mess up her 3Lz, and that would not be ideal in the Olympic season.
Besides, it would make sense to add 4Lz if she already was landing 4T in a program, but she’s yet to show 2*3A and 4T. If I were Liza I would throw all my energy to land 2*4T and 2*3A in the FS. Then learn 4Lz post Olympics.

For me keeping the rules as they are is already good news. Russia can get all GPF, there are multiple challengers to send different skaters there. And with the quota of 3 the Olympics podium sweep is more than feasible. After that team B can be sent to the worlds to compete for the second sweep. I just hope that ISU don't devise "improvements" in the rules.

The argument of other countries' being able to create the miracle off-season is weak. They could not do it pre coronavirus - why would they be able to do it now? The only "rays of hope" were Alysa and Rika. But Alysa is very different after the puberty. With her the focus has shifted to "better artistry". Alas, these are the words when jumps are no longer there. And with Rika I said already more than once that the age of superstars like Michelle, Yuna, Mao, Caro, etc. is gone. Those superstars would fail now vs. the new Russian crops. You can call them "products", "robots", "conveyor", "sonograms", whatever. All these terms are just the mask for jealosy, unhappinness, desperation. There is a system now with 5+ top level skaters in Russia. All of them are human beings with their life stories, illnesses, injuries, dramas, etc. The point is that out of them 3 will compete at a given championship and they will be those who are most ready at a given point of time. It's a machine as they named it during TV1 cup. Having just 1 "superstar" who is not better than any of those skaters you won't be able to compete with The Machine.

Come on. Who will jump quads next season? Rika? Well, many hoped that she is "The one", the hope dies last as they say. Rika had her best chance in Saitama in 2019. The gap between her and the top Russians is just getting wider. Who else? Looks like no one.

And that makes me nervous. The status quo is way too obvious for some people to take actions against it changing the rules. That's why I want everything to stay the way it is now. От добра добра не ищут - do not mess with success...
honestly i dont think fans can even compare Rika with those 'superstars" yet or even expect rika to be the heir of that era. Each of those girls have a very distinct style toward one another and they were flowing with charisma even in their junior year. Mao was more conservative, but even then you could see the bud of a future artist. This is something that rika kihira doesn't naturally have IMO. I don't know how to explain this, but those girls moved like they were a superstar performing on a stage when they were on, esp michele and yuna, while the current rika move like she practiced and timed her choreography to a T every single day. Is that make any sense ? I have nothing against her of course, i like her jumps, some of her programs and performances, esp her current SP, but it always baffled when they compare Rika kihira to those girls. I mean even on the fire within, there is a move where she is trying to be seductive and flirty, but she is not and it was very awkward for me. I guess i can somehow understand why Mishin's wife said that RIka was nothing without her 3As at one point. But to be fair her performances aspect is better these days, thank God for Lambiel.

Was she who posted 4T with harness a couple of years ago? Or Zagitiva...

Tuktamysheva has done a 4T in practice out of the harness and attempted it once 2 years ago at Nationals. A video was posted several years ago of Zagitova doing a 4F in a harness; i highly doubt she's working on those with any seriousness, she really just appears to be training enough to keep decent form for show skating.

The athletes themselves say that they do not consider it jumping. She just posted the attempts. It can be seen that even with a fishing rod, it still lands very badly, but I'm happy for it. She should try make it!

The only 1 I've seen is this 1 that was posted in 2018

Oh man...that's actually promising. I wonder why they stopped trying to land one without a harness...

Quad Flip and Lutz would have been realistic (3 Axel and Quad Salchow probably not...)

Perhaps 2 years ago it might have been realistic but she's struggled on her jumps her last competitive season and hasn't been competitively training since December 2019, I would be super shocked if she came back to serious competition doing 7 triple programs much less adding a quad

Yeah, totally agree (unfortunately). I really think that her body just couldn't take any more (knees, in particular).

There is a rumor that the National Team will consist of 3 A, + Liza, Kamila, Maiia ( + Zhenya, Daria and Nugumanova).

I fully expect a retirement announcement every day now, sadly.

Dont know if it has been posted here yet ( i doubt there is a fan fest yet for Kostyleva ), but this is the SP from Kostyleva from a local competition ( i cannot understand which one it is ). As i understand, Kostyleva is a novice and Eteris girl. She is very promising, she seems to have very good and solid technique, as well as step sequences AND spins! She also has great musicality for her age. I really like her programm, although the music does not sound really well. Enjoy her performance! :)
