Dont know if it has been posted here yet ( i doubt there is a fan fest yet for Kostyleva ), but this is the SP from Kostyleva from a local competition ( i cannot understand which one it is ). As i understand, Kostyleva is a novice and Eteris girl. She is very promising, she seems to have very good and solid technique, as well as step sequences AND spins! She also has great musicality for her age. I really like her programm, although the music does not sound really well. Enjoy her performance! :)

Just on monday I've linked her recent free skate in the Team Eteri Tutberidze thread. Yes, she's amazingly pronising being just 9, I hope she will keep that.

I guess i can somehow understand why Mishin's wife said that RIka was nothing without her 3As at one point. But to be fair her performances aspect is better these days, thank God for Lambiel.

I agree with most of what you say. Although I would give Rika some "artistry" credit. In fact, I enjoyed her last season creative programs and I think that artstry wise she is just behind 2 "true Japanese artists". And those artists Satoko and Marin just cannot jump. I would place Rika above Kaori and well above Wakaba. Which makes it possible to start talking about "the complete package" - a very popular argument last season and the one before the last. But...but - if we started negative comparisons just a while ago, there would be immediate "morale police" coming with "why bringing Rika in RLT, you got a fixation on her, etc., etc." - yes, it happened just a while ago. What fixation? She is theoretically the only one who can challenge the Russians - that's why I bring her name up at RLT. No, she WAS the only one. Right now I simply don't believe that she is any longer. There will be "illnesses, injuries, new boots, etc". All the multiple reasons when you have just 1 skater who have never won before against "The machine".

*Author's note: The post is just in good humor. I know we shouldn't negatively discuss coaches or anyone for that matter (and this is certainly not the intention of the post). The truth is I actually have a great deal of respect for Tutberidze's accomplishments and for that matter think of all coaches as largely unsung heroes who to varying degrees work behind the scenes. I just happen to like drama and think it adds spice and generates interest in the sport.

How many are allowed on the national team? Can the number be expanded if there's an exceptional number of skaters? Because, I mean, the test skates are fun and I want to see so many.

The main team usually consists of 6 skaters, if Rus Fed wants a 7th lady on the National Team, then they must take a spot of another discipline (for example, men, so the men's National Team should have only 5 skaters). Naming a 7th lady on the main team would not affect the spots in the reserve team.

I hope this makes sense

Last time they named 7 ladies into the main National team they took the extra national team spot from the men and gave them one of the girls reserve spots. So 7 women and 5 men in the National team members and 2 women and 4 men in reserves.

Interesting. I think if they were to do that again it would make sense to take a spot from Ice Dance. It's their weakest discipline overall (IMO) and we know the RusFed will be putting all their eggs into Sinitsina and her partner's basket anyway.
 
I don't know that they will take a spot from any of the other disciplines this time. It's an Olympic year and they have 3 spots at World's in each discipline and hopefully 3 spots in each discipline at the Olympics (*fingers crossed for Nebelhorn*)

Ice dance also isn't that weak. They had all 3 teams in the top 10 at World's.

I'm doubtful they will take a spot as well but if they do I stand by ice dance being the spot they should take. Yes the 3 teams were in the Top 10 at Worlds but since 2018 it's basically been the same 3 teams at the top. Nothing is guaranteed obviously but I would say the ice dance Olympic Team is pretty much confirmed at this point, and if anyone was to lose their spot it won't be to a team outside of Russia's Top 5.

Pairs is too strong to take a place from and while men's is often a mess, the Olympic team is very much up in the air with a bunch of potential contenders.

Brilliant! Only Tuktamysheva needs to be the third lead in Season 1 and Radionova and Pogorilaya should be regulars in both seasons 1 and 2 as world bronze medalists.
Also I would not put Shcherbakova and Trusova for Season 2 recurring. Anna was injured and all the hype was on a different "3A" - Trusova, Kostornaia, and Tarakanova :/. Plus of course Tsurskaya - at one point she was Zagitova's equal.

While I agree Satoko and Marin are true artists...what's not to like about Wakaba? Honestly I am trying to think of another skater in the last ten years who has the versatility to skate short programs to Gypsy Dance, Energia, Bird Set Free, and Primavera back-to-back-to-back-to-back and I can't think of any. Even taking the most versatile skaters in all disciplines (Brown, Uno, Gubanova, Kostornaia, Asada, Sui/Han, Savchenko/Massot, Virtue/Moir, Chock/Bates, etc.) I can't see any of them selling all four, they're just too different. Maybe Daisuke Takahashi?

Speaking of Mao I know Anna is inspired by Mao and I am still hoping she will get Rachmaninov for Olympic season. She would do incredibly.

Haha. You are probably right, but I didn't watch too much of Figure Skating back then to properly know what to include. I probably missed a fair bit. (I know, I know, I'm just a casual lol)

The alternative titles to Season 1 and Season 2 that I have in my head were mostly about the main drama lines at that point.

Season 1 - The Sochi Era (aka The Olympic Judging Scandal)
&
Season 2 - The Pyeongchang Era (aka The Duel)

I only had Shcherbakova and Trusova listed in Season 2 because of the 2019 RusNat upset by Shcherbakova and Trusova because of the Russian Rocket hype.
