I'm not comparing them, I'm just saying russian media hardly has a leg to stand on when criticizing others. Of course, non of the youtube channels, even Koola king and TSL can hold a candle to the sports.ru "experience". In any case, acknowledging them is a step towards legitimizing them, which I'd rather not do.

Personally, TSL is my least favorite of the three channels. They're so careless about spreading unfounded rumors(hormones blockers??, Aliona and Sergei??) that could be seriously damaging to people's reputations. And for some reason, they get famous interviews anyway. :scratch2:

TSL has actually been in sports.ru articles a lot recently. They were actually mentioned in an Olympic Channel article about Worlds. But a lot of it has been controversial...

Hmmm.... then I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. I don’t see any Russian media criticism towards Paola in here, I only see criticism of users of this forum.
So it’s either you addressing flanker as a Russian or part of Russian media and telling him that he can’t criticize Paola because Russian media is much worse. Which would be weird, since flanker isn’t Russian media, isn’t a citizen of Russia and doesn’t even speak the language.
OR
it’s a whataboutism: “but look at sports.ru! They’re so much worse”
Either way, not sure what you were trying to achieve with this argument.
Things can be bad in isolation, without being referenced to something, which you think is worse.

Apologizes, I don't mean to criticize anyone on this forum. The part about thinking it was a bit harsh was my opinion on Flanker's opinion(which is still completely valid, I can see why Paola's speculations are angering). Everything else wasn't addressed to anyone on this particular forum.
I think I wasn't clear enough, which caused some misunderstandings. Everyone can definitely have their own separate opinions on others, which are completely valid. However, I've noticed a trend of meaningful media(not this forum, which is just a gathering of fans) making a big fuss about youtube channels(not necessarily Paola la) which amplifies their influence. When I talk about ignoring them, I meant that was what I thought the media in general should do, rather than giving them interviews/asking skaters questions about hormone blockers, etc. You're right that both can be, and are bad. I was just trying to note that some media sites look like hypocrites because of their own behavior, not to minimalize any of the actions of others.

Yes. What I dislike the most is that TSL start saying things as a rumor, but next time they start repeating this with a conviction and bluntness, and at some point it becomes something, which is claimed and spread around by them as truth. This is the most damaging aspect of their channel in my eyes. This Aliona/Sergej situation is exactly that. “Repeat a rumor enough times and it becomes a fact” kinda thing, you know. People are still running around talking about alleged 40% as if it’s the case, where in reality it’s just a rumor from TSL, which was simply repeated enough times by them to become an acceptable “truth” for some. There are a lot of absurd rumors in Russian forums, I’m really surprised these two are taking them seriously. Perhaps they have nothing else to talk about.

I used to be mad with TSL but now I have softened towards them. The guys apparently try to make some money. And there is a thin edge between becoming not interesting to anyone and becoming non-handshakeable like Kula did. So they have to find this elusive balance.

I am much more mad with local users who use those so-called analysts as a backup to their pure emotional dislikes of those whom they dislike.

I don't watch Koola, but I share the opinion about TSL being even less careful than Paola. IIRC they were discussing the rumor about Shcherbakova stealing/hiding Trusova's skates a couple of weeks ago on 'This And That' semi-seriously.

Doesn't seem to fit Shcherbakova's public persona (which admittedly doesn't say much). Nevertheless, it seems wrong given how those two appear to be on quite good terms, and certainly seems to be one of Trusova's closer friends at any rate. Not to mention that to the best of my knowledge, photos of both Shcherbakova and Trusova on vacation had already surfaced when the "heist" allegedly took place.

It was according to them a rumor that was allegedly floating around Russian Telegram threads. I don't read those so I can't verify that, but the whole thing left me scratching my head and going...."CITATION NEEDED!"

Sasha said that she just wanted to try new skates, and that’s why she had different boots.

While all sorts of crazy nonsense undoubtedly goes on behind the scenes, sometimes people read a little to much into things. Not everything is an “excuse” no matter how crazy it might seem.

I will really miss her old brown boots :( That was a nice touch that set her apart from most of the other girls. I'd like some of the ladies to have black boots like the men, I think Sasha would rock the look. But well, that doesn't matter that much as long as she's comfy while she's landing her quads like a rocket queen

This direct translation is not applicable. Better to use "unwelcome" or "weaned".

I like the non-handshakable version more! :-) It is more colourful, creative and shows a high level of comfort with the language. My first English teacher, a native speaker, was fascinated with the word-creating possibilities of the language. His favourite word was “unputdownable” that can be used to describe a book. :-)

Really? To me TSL is an absolute trainwreck and the leader is probably the most dislikeable personality I've come across in sports. Can't watch 5 minutes of that junk. Massive lack of knowledge + massive ego.

There should be a way to "make some money" that doesn't involve constant badmouthing.

When I started getting interesting in figure skating I stumbled on TSL videos, I watched a few and didn't mind them much at first, but the more I watched the more I became upset with them, I really hated the way they talked about Sasha as a chaotic robot with no artistry. I believe there's a line between expressing your own opinion in a polite manner and trash-talking about teenagers and encouraging rumors and drama as grown adults... I don't actively hate them but I just stopped giving them attention, since it seems that's mostly all they crave for.

TSL has some really good insight in talking about technique and I confess some of the TMZ-esque talk is a bit funny at times but they really love like you said to talk about rumors and perpetuating innuendos about teens being in relationships with coaches, having eating disorders and other awful things. Like you, I've stopped giving them clicks/views on their podcast.

Saw this, I think this pretty much solidifies what most of us figured that Zagitova doesn't have intentions to compete, apparently she's going to be performing in an ice show from July 1 to September 30th.

https://www.sports.ru/figure-skatin...-v-ledovom-shou-tatyany-navki-ruslan-i-l.html
Alina's participation was confirmed only in the second half of July:
https://navka.show/shows/ruslan-i-ludmila
Moreover, the days of participation were shortened over time. Now it is only 10 days of July. Let's see what this means.

Is it still early July we will get the announcements of the GP spots?

Hmmm...I wonder why it takes longer this year...

Perhaps they want to get an idea of everyone's condition before they assign out spots to group skaters together? But they also may be waiting to hear in regards to COVID, Canada and France both cancelled their GPs last year, Russian Fed might be wanting to hear from the ISU about contingencies before they assign events out - imagine Valieva (who we all pretty much consider a favorite for the Olympic team at this point) gets assigned an event and that event gets cancelled and then she not only misses out an international senior event but the GPF.

I saw somewhere on here that Canada is only allowing visitors with Canadian approved vaccines which doesn't include the Russian vaccine or something like that, so I it wouldn't surprise me if the Feds might be delaying their teams to get word from the ISU about the contingencies for events and if the ISU is making any agreements with government bodies about covid protocols with quarantining or vaccines, etc.
