When should they announce who gets the TBA spot at Skate America? I too hope to see Cesanek/Yehorov get this spot 🤞

I don't know if/when Champs Camp is being held this year, but if(?) it were planned, I could imagine a return to the scenario of the "class photo" being our first knowledge?

In any case, my guess would be that we will not find out until at least after Lake Placid Ice Dance International in mid-August?

Re Champs Camp, a possible  update:

FWIW, "2021 Champs Camp" on Aug 25-31 in Nashville is a recent (AFAIK/IIRC) addition to the "International" listings on the competition calendar on the USFS site.

ETA (on Aug 16):
Noticed today that categorization of the Champs Camp listing has been changed to "Qualifying".

ETA (on Aug 18):
Noticed today that the Champs Camp listing has been removed from the public USFS competition calendar.
I assume the removal means only that USFS at least for now wants to keep the scheduling of the camp under the radar.

I can't be 100% sure that the new listing is referring to the same thing as the annual USFS Champs Camp for GP competitors, but maybe it is??

If(?) it is the familiar pre-GP Champs Camp, then it would be the first time (AFAIK) that Nashville would be the location.

And seven days this year would be an unusually long camp. Champs Camp typically has lasted fewer days.

Congratulations to all the Chesapeake Open medalists.
In junior dance, the Browns 🥇 once again won overall and won the FD ... after Wolfkostin/Chen 🥈 won the RD.
I'm happy that Tkachenko/Kiliakov 🥉 placed third. I really liked their FD.

Apparently USFS National High Performance Development Team Camp for ice dancers was held in person right after Chesapeake Open.

Good luck to everyone competing at Lake Placid International this week. :)

It appears as though Avonley Nguyen has paired up with Grigory Smirnov. In an Instagram story from today, she posted the back of a person who is presumed to be her training partner. Grigory Smirnov had posted an Instagram story of himself in the exact same outfit today as well. Here's the Twitter thread which connected the dots. Obviously, none of this has been confirmed, but it would certainly be interesting. Would RusFed release him?

Also in Senior dance at Chesapeake Open, Cesanek/Yehorov were 1st place, McNamara/Spiridonov 2nd place and Pate/Bye placed 3rd. Thanks to the live stream was able to see all of their new programs for this season 😍

Once again it looks like from the protocols that Wolfkostin/Chen messed up their twizzles. I'm hoping this isn't becoming a mental block for them as it seems like it always happens in one of their two programs. Hopefully they can work on getting them more consistent!

Omg can this be true? Does someone think that he can be a potentially good partner for her? It still pains me to know that Avonley and Vadym are done. They had a spectacular performance at worlds and it made me an official fan 😥

Per USFSA assignments page

Lombardia Trophy (10-12th September):
Carreira/Ponomarenko
Cesanek/Yehorov

U.S. International (15-18th September):
Hawayek/Baker
Hubbell/Donohue
McNamara/Spiridonov
Pate/Bye

Autumn Classic (16-18th September):
Green/Parsons
thank you! this is lovely information. How did you get to the assignments page (for the other disciplines)? I tried, but no go for me :)

Great article about Flores/Tsarevski by Claire Cloutier is new on Fan Zone:

Good luck to the Browns and to F/T at this week's second JGP in Courchevel. :)

Belated congratulations to the Lake Placid International junior dance medalists: F/T 🥇; Ling/Wein 🥈; Neset/Markelov 🥉.

And to Green/Parsons for senior gold 🥇and Cesanek/Yehorov for bronze 🥉.

Very honorable mention to Pate/Bye who were third in RD.

ice-dance.com has Anne Calder's new recap (Aug 23) of Lake Placid International:

While I'm at it ... ICYMI, Anne's article (Aug 8) re Neset/Markelov:

I don't think there is a pairs section at the US International Classic. The John Nicks Pairs Challenge is happening the same weekend.

Off topic: John Nicks Pairs Challenge is scheduled for the week before U.S. Classic.
I do agree that John Nicks Pairs Challenge is the reason that U.S. Classic does not have pairs competition.

:thank: I am noticing the omission of Pairs, but I guess it will come eventually.

If skylark is making a general comment about the absence of any pairs assignments on the USFS page, I will mention that of the non-GP Senior/Junior events already showing assignments in other disciplines, only two actually have pairs competition: JGP Slovakia and JGP Russia. (Too bad that U.S. pairs do not have any JGP assignments yet, but that's a topic for a different thread.)

I was just looking at the Junior Dance Scores from France and it looks like our Junior Dance Teams did very well in the OD. This is nice to see.

US Dance teams, international scores so far:
Senior:
Green/Parsons 174.98
Cesnek/Yehorov 166.12
Pate/Bye 159.87
McNamara/Spirodonov 155.12
Junior:
Wolfkostin/Chen 165.01
Brown/Brown 154.25
Flores/Tsarevski 153.07
Ling/Wein 139.90
Together with H/B and C/P, I'd say the future of US ice dance is looking bright.
