2021 U.S. Nationals: Senior Men - Short Program

Nina Simone?!?! This program is going to be either awful or awesome.
You hadn't seen this program yet??? Jason performed it during the ISP Challenge or some early comp. Majestic even at his home rink. His fp is Absolutely Fabulous too. Genius, in fact. David Wilson has finally gotten to know Jason with great fp choreo to Slaughter on Tenth Avenue! I can't wait to see Jason slay with this program. Even TSL gnarly cohosts finally bowed down to Jason's excellence this season.

The SP as usual was choreographed by Jason's amazing long time choreographer and friend, the one, the only Rohene Ward!!! ♥️ Rohene gets Nina Simone and Sinnerman. So do Jason Brown. :)

Just seems like there is something wrong with the scoring system that just because you have a quad you can win over someone who is the absolute epitome of figure skating. Jason's tech scores should be higher because his skating skills are textbook. Need to put more weight on the execution of all skills with more GOE given not just on jumps. This is very frustrating that those with a quad can be bumpy and a bit messy on other skating skills and it doesn't seem to matter.
While I do wish the pcs score had a higher limit or the scores were fairer comparatively, it is a sport and quads are a lot harder than triples. You have to account for that as well.

It is a judged sport and no one else I know of in the world can do what Jason just did. If I just want to watch jumping I will watch high jump track and field.

Noom sponsorship of figure skating. Appropriate or not so much.
Second tier sports take the money from where they can get it.

The Women's Tennis Association used to be sponsored by a cigarette company.

It was always sureal to hear Chris Evert or Martina Navratilova take the trophy and thank Virginia Slims cigarettes.

But hey, wahtever. "I am woman hear me roar."

This is why the scoring system needs to be fixed.
Yeah, I mean. There's no way to score this kind of expertise. It's out-of-this-world. Like Johnny said, Jason's programs are usually non-stop movement that tell a story. Who can move like that and do the tech with gorgeous positions? Nobody but Jason Brown.

Nathan is just on a different planet with the quads and everything he possesses. Jason has his very own planet too with Rohene orbiting. LOL!

Vincent is more cerebral and coming into his own in a different way. I admire Vincent's passion and work ethic, but I can't get into his personality as much. Nor am I generally emotionally moved by his skating, except to be happy for his accomplishments.

When Andrew Torgashev comes into his own under legendary Raf, and if Camden Pulkinen ever allows himself to just do what he can do, and if Tomoki slows down and learns how to pace himself during a performance, I mean what abundance we have. Our cups runneth over! U.S. Men have always been amazing, believe me. So this is nothing new. Just very, very special and so wonderful to witness. Thanks to the Skating Gods!!!

Yes but not now no matter what Virginia Slims is offering.

Nope, that was my first time seeing it. The first and only time I saw Brown this year was at the virtual Peggy Fleming trophy and he definitely didn’t skate to Nina Simone!

Agreed. What Jason does is magical but those guys landed two quads.

Also I know judges have their strictness and leniency, and normally I roll my eyes when people whine that their favourite didn’t get top scores... but looking at those couple +4s, even a picky judge like me can’t fathom how Brown’s triple flip could have been any more difficult or better executed. That was a perfect element.
