Think it’s injury or Canada just wanting to give MJ & R a second assignment?

Well... Miku and Tyler withdrew from their challenger event... so I think it's probably injury or not being quite ready. And in that case, at least Skate Canada is not wasting that spot and giving it to a well-deserving team.
I also hope it is due to an injury.

I don't think Skate Canada would have "canceled" Miku and Tyler. It's not in their DNA... unlike some nations who cancel junior skaters from JGP all the time.
I tend to agree, especially on such short notice. I also feel like MJL/RL must have been on standby for this

I have a few things...
Here : a video posted about a month ago... Proft and Nadeau...
they are looking great but she has a herniated disk... so who knows when they will be able to compete.
Warsaw cup assignments are out.

Too bad they didn't give out more tickets to compete to our athletes.. but these two young teams deserve an opportunity so I am happy.

She talks about untreated injuries, obsession of a perfect body and toxic relationship with her coach... and there is a nice picture of her with Charlie and his partner and kid... so to those who are still demonizing Charlie...

Piper and Paul were spectacular. I thought they were easily the class of the field, and there were some other really good teams here, including the other two Canadians. I"m trying not to get my hopes up too high for the debut of their new FD. But Gilles/Poirier easily have the best RD of the season so far in my opinion.
I was impressed with both Daleman and Schizas in the SP. That's the best I've seen Gabby skate in, literally, years. And by far the best Maddie's looked this season. I was particularly impressed with her expression in the Black Swan program, she really worked to perform it. Hope they can hold it together for the FS.

Gilles & Poirier capture Skate Canada gold; Lajoie & Lagha win bronze
Canadian ice dance teams claimed two spots on the podium at Skate Canada International on Saturday as Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier won gold while Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha moved up a place to take home the bronze.

After two Grand Prix events, Canadian ice dance is looking to be in strong shape for the new season.
After that iffy short program, Keegan skated well enough to medal in the free skate, but it wasn't quite enough.
Brooke & Ben are developing nicely on a technical level, though they need a lot more polish to really take things to the next level. I'm undecided whether Evans is the guy to do that for them, but he's taken Brooke pretty far so far, so we'll see.

This is part of the reason I like her so much. She's brutally honest with herself and everyone else. A class act. Most skaters are not this candid.
"Schizas, a 19-year-old from Oakville, Ont., and the reigning Canadian champion, tumbled down to seventh place with 180.59. Skating last, and to music from the "West Side Story" soundtrack, she fell once and two-footed a couple of landings.
"I knew full well skating that a door was wide open for me. Like so well," Schizas said. "I knew that I could have won this event just by not falling on my face there on a double jump.
"I didn't think it was going to be that hard. I knew full well that door was open. I just didn't figure out how to walk through it."
Reigning Canadian national champion Madeline Schizas of Oakville, Ont., won the women's short program with a score of 67.90 at Skate Canada International in Mississauga, Ont.
Schizas spotted a plastic flower holder on the ice during her program, likely from a flower thrown after a previous skater, and missed by the young skaters who scoop up flowers and stuffed animals. She considered stopping her program to pick it up.
"But once you interrupt your program, how does everyone feel about your program performance?" she said.
Instead, she picked it up afterward and took it to the judges' table.
"I didn't slip on it, I just saw it. I just skated by it like four times," Schizas said. "From about the third or fourth jump in the program, I was like, oh gosh, there's something there," she said. "But I'm not going to stand here and blame some stupid piece of plastic for my bad skate. I could have skated well anyways. I just have to learn how to focus a little bit more.
"I think I've learned how to skate at these events, I just haven't learned how to compete."
