2022-23 Cup of Russia - Stage 1 - Moscow

https://www.1tv.com/live has worked well for me in the past with a clear stream

We haven't seen Valieva and Akateva head to head before. It's possible this is the only time we see it with both in their prime depending on what the future holds for Valieva.

They're also building a new star. If Akateva wins she does what Shcherbakova and Trusova couldn't do all of last season until the free skate of the Olympics (and that has an asterisk against in my mind because of what Kamila had to deal with off the ice).

I really like what they've done they are pushing both skaters to be at their absolute best, not giving Valieva free gold medal, and giving Akateva the spotlight against the best skater in the world to see if she can deal with the pressure.

I think Kamila continues with the 2A (I imagine she tries to bring her 3A for the Russian Nationals if Akateva and Petrosyan are stable with their ultra-si) and as said above I agree she uses her 4T in the free skate. Akateva will have to make all her jumps to win but she can do it.
This is Russia, where the girls aren‘t getting coddled, and are thrown into the frying pan immediately. Sink or swim. Separate the women from the girls.

If Akatieva wants to be the heir apparent, she has to prove it on ice. This is the first test and it’s better for her to have the exam now so she can gage where she is at. Kamila is a great hurdle though.

In this thing, the crown is not given to you, you can’t buy it, you can’t beg for it, you just have to go and take it by force. But, Kamila swings a big club so you got to be ready for a prolonged fight, because she certainly isn’t going down without one.

Akatieva has pressure, yes, but so does Kamila. Valieva wants to keep the chasing pack in her rear view mirror. A loss here and no doubt the whispers begin (and there will be more than whispers in some areas) regarding Valieva and if she is starting a decline. Unfair? Certainly, but that’s what you deal with in this sport.

I mean, Anna was 3x Russian champion and she was written off by some misguided folks.

And this is why the ladies get battle hardened quickly. The competition comes fast and furiously and the pressure cooker is always on.

Tyutyunina/Bagin WD?

Sofya Tyutyunina broke her arm

Coach Alexander Zhulin said that Sofia Tyutyunina, who performs in ice dancing with Andrei Bagin, broke her arm.
Earlier, the skaters were announced for the first stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow, which will be held on October 22-23.
"Tyutyunina broke her arm. They [with Bagin] will perform at the fourth and sixth stages," Zhulin said.

Right now they are interviewing a soldier on this channel...and he might be saying awful things, but he is so incredibly good looking that I am having problems changing the internet channel. lol.

Oh, no. So sorry to hear that. Hope she heals well.

As for the junior girls, there are Rubtsova, Titova (seen for the first time this season I believe) or Agaeva, who contrary has shown herself already this season.

Ah, the girl (Yaroslava Vorobyeva) made some bad step just before the end :(
The boy is a gentleman though. 👍

A strong start for junior pairs by Maria and Alexey almost fully clean :cheer2::cheer2:

Masha and Lyosha have had a strong start the season by winning both junior golds in Panin memorial and SPB cup 1st stage, so they definetly are competing for a podium finish here:cheer:

They are still new to pairs and only their 1st season together but in my opinion they did well today. Im really exited for them :cheer:

I forgot Varvara and Daniil kept this program for another season does that make it 3 season with this program for them now? They did well today!

I remeber when they 1st teamed up in 20-21 season Varvara was so tiny, she has grown a lot since then
