2022-23 Russian Women's Figure Skating

Not open for further replies.
I have just unfollowed Anything GOE on Twitter. They post interesting information, but they have liked a post saying how fun it'll be to watch GP without Russian women. They have thereby lost my trust, I no longer consider them an objective source. An objective source shouldn't be celebrating the expulsion of clean athletes for whatever external reason.
For myself, I will definitely miss Tuktamysheva, Kostornaia, Muravyeva and Samodelkina on this year's GP and JGP. If that makes me a 'pro-Russian cockroach', a term which others of my nationality will no doubt immediately understand... I couldn't care less.

Agree, but please be careful as this is bordering on causing another political derailment. Some members are overlooking the thread reply notice and taking advantage of this.

GS will still follow the domestic events in the competition forums. I made this decision because the Russian skaters and millions of other athletes cannot control what the Russian government does.

Okay, sorry about that! I suspected my post might be borderline, so I'm just glad it was deemed passable :)

I really appreciate that this season's Russian events will be mentioned on GS. I'll watch the women and pairs if I can find archived streams.

---------

Forgot to mention earlier that I like Petrosyan's choice of 'Voila'. I wouldn't call myself her fan, but I think this music will suit her much better than the tango last year.

for viewing competitions - this is a Youtube channel that posted the 1TV competition (I think its like a second channel that was rebranded) and the VK link is to a Shcherbakova fanpage on VK that has posted her different videos (obviously) but they posted the whole 1TV competition like the day it happened earlier this year

This is the text of the skating fed of Sweden:

"The swedish figure skating federation demands the Djurgården skating club to immediately, and not after the 22nd July 2022, cancel the programmed event: a masterclass from the 27th to the 28th of August at the Husby rink with the russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova. This goes against the values of the federation and could seriously damage swedish figure skating"

That's so imperative, stark and gross it's unbelievable. It sounds like an execution order.
Well, everything is more or less clear to me with their "values", but it even became interesting - how do they imagine it purely technologically - then Trusova arrives and Swedish figure skating immediately dies? How is Sasha able to harm the figure skating of any country? This is some completely incomprehensible way of thinking for me.

Absurdity at its finest!!!

With all this said however, now that the training camp is almost done, I assume everyone has at least all their basic triples they just haven't been filmed.

Above all, they both explain the girls as fat and lazy again. So nothing new. Eteri doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand and TAT doesn't realize that, given her infinite expanse, she practically declares herself the laziest person in the world.

That's not exactly what they said:
Figure skating coaches Eteri Tutberidze and Tatyana Tarasova discussed the topic of excess weight among athletes.

Tarasova: Hard, of course, the first months of work. While you look at them, how much they have recovered.

Tutberidze: They also come all the time... I don't know. You know, I always say that one gram of fat is one gram of laziness.
Tarasova: Lazy. Lane, of course.

Tutberidze: That's how much they got better, that's how lazy they are.

Tarasova: Of course, weight is laziness. You have to force yourself to get up, go, run.

Sounds more like they are talking about how in shape the skaters stay, and while yes Tarasova isn't skinny, you are picking on her weight when she's not an athlete vs. an athlete maintaining form... before anyone jumps me for this comment yes I'm aware there are issues in figure skating with unhealthy weight management and that Eteri has some skater(s) that have had eating disorder issues.

This is - not what was said. That's the only reason why I react, because demagogy neëds to be clarified.

Well, anyone who can add 1 and 1 and doesn't wear Eteri rose-colored glasses understands very well that that's exactly what was said. And as I said, it's not new, on the contrary, it's Eteri's mantra that she's been praying to herself for years. However, this denial of natural development in girls during puberty will become even more toxic in the future as the minimum age is raised.

A vid of Tarasova's visit in Novogorsk (no VPN needed):

Big focus on talks between Tatyana and Eteri commenting the skaters, I hope someone will fill what am not able to catch.
- much of Adeliia's SP can be seen, Tarasova somehow criticcal (to me it looks like constructive criticism, I hope I understand it well)
- Sofia Akateva's injury was a result of a collision, her knee was cut, before she already restored all her jumps, now is little afraid.
- Alisa Dvoegrazova sould have all quads.
- they talk about the need to keep motivation in the current situation.
I will finish with Trusova and translate it completely verbatim.

Eteri is definitely tough and severe. Just a few words - and she reminded me of my commander in army. I couldn't be like that, but that's probably part of the profession.

ET: We'll see, of course. The generation has changed. They have other values...

(bring the dog)

TAT (to the dog): Hello! Hello honey. So I think - how do you live here?

ET: That's how [she lives]!

TAT (to the dog): How do you live here, dear? It's terribly cold here. Only we love it. Oh right now

ET: For the sake of the mistress, she is ready to endure everything ...

ET (turning to TAT): in general, no one promised us an easy life.

TAT: No, it's too much - as long as I live in the world, I have not seen this yet. We were dismissed then once, but such as now did not happen.

ET: No!

TAT: It has never happened so hopelessly - never. On the "direct line" they do not hear anything.

*Note: “they” is probably ISU.

ET: Well, they teamed up. There is nothing better than being "friends" against someone.

1:12

TAT: Pretty that girl.

ET: What girl? Is that the little one?

TAT: Yes, with sleeves. There is something on her sleeves...

ET: Yes, yes, by the end of the season she had already jumped all the quads.

TAT: I noticed her right away because of her sliding. I love it so much that they work so hard on this sliding and they are getting better and better.

ET: And here is Dashulka. Dasha Usacheva.

TAT: It is necessary with this generation really... Oh, my God. I still don't understand why? Why are these small children removed from the competition?

ET: I don't understand why they're doing all this... These suspensions.

TAT: I wrote to them there. I wrote to them - “For what?”

ET: But sports life is short. Short...

TAT: Why are these little ones, who are already able to win against everyone, being punished like that? They want the Russians to calm down bit. But we are a restless people. We won't let them... And when they let us out, we'll be like real animals - we'll take everything away.

2:16

TAT: Will she skate [the program]?

ET: She's worried, you can see it in her.

TAT: Come on!

ET (to Gleichengauz): Danya, she has been standing for a long time.

TAT: Have you already found all the musical material?

(Eteri shakes her head)

TAT: What do you need?

ET: I don't know, I'm somehow like that... The main thing is that there should be a combination with an athlete, and something could be said with this music.

5:37

TAT: So, can I say a few words later?

ET: Of course!

5:44

TAT: Well, your program is very beautiful. Yes, very beautiful, very musical program. And if you started to play it right before of the [musical] beat throughout the first part, then you would not be late for the second part. Do you understand? Because you have it - you probably think to yourself: “one, two, three, four” - and you did it, but you have to - “and one!”

ET: “And one!” To get into a musical beat, you have to start right before of the beat - ta-da-there, ta-da-there ...

TAT: That's right, “and - one!”.

ET: And you constantly heard and did, heard and did. And that's it, you lose it.

TAT: Not only are you lost it, you're late for the next musical phrase. We even will no longer tell you that your last jump was a double one - it was already just ugly.

ET: This is a disgrace.

TAT: I want to tell you something: before that you were jumping, and then you suddenly go away, lowered your head. And then - spin. You have good spin. But I want to see a very good spin. To do this, you need to turn your leg a little.

ET: And speed up.

TAT: Do it, please. May I ask you to do a spin?

ET: Which one?

TAT: In camel. First!

ET: Do a camel spin!

7:05

TAT: Here's a jump, yes.

ET: Faster!

TAT: Turn, turn the toe! Like this! Like this! Expand! Good! Feel your leg a little, turn your foot - and immediately you will have a different position, you understand? It turns out as if in full face - and it looks better. Something you got stuck on the step sequence ...

ET: Got stuck! For some reason it got stuck. The mood is gone, your face has moved out.

TAT: Here. In general, a good program. Can I look again at the starting pose? Wait, stop. Get further away.

ET: Move away, move away.

TAT: Yes, like that. Turn the leg that is behind.

ET: Turn your leg!

TAT: Turn it like this. Stop. Like this. Can't you feel that leg, does it move on its own?

ET: You press, hold.

TAT: Yes. Come on...

ET: The [correct] mood is very necessary here. You have to [start moving] again right before of the musical beat, so that completely... It's like your body is singing.

TAT: Here's a movement right before of the beat - it will give you the opportunity, as you do in the warm-up, to go to the next movement. And so you fail. All right, kitty, come on, run.

8:47

ET: Sonya Akatieva has not recovered yet. While I was away from her... Well, they just collided, her leg was severely cut.

TAT: I know. There are specific exercises...

ET: She was already in shape, she jumped Axel, Salchow, toe loop. And now it's all over again. Spin the bast, we start all over again.

TAT: Yes. That is, the injury, as such, has already healed?

ET: Yes. But nevertheless [muscles] need to be developed. I know her, she will catch up [the rest]. But now she returned to training and I see that she takes care of herself. I told her: “Wait, why are you taking care of yourself? Thank God, neither your joints nor ligaments were damaged. It was just a cut wound. That's it, now let's [work]”

9:31

TAT: What is the name of this girl?

ET: Dvoeglazova.

TAT: How?

ET: Dvoeglazova.

TAT: Dvoeglazova!

ET: I scared her all last season - I said that I would send her to pair skating. She beginned to jump all the quadruples in fear - just to avoid getting into pair skating.

TAT: Of course...

ET: Skate, skate, use leg, skate, and you get up again like this!

TAT: Here's a quad for you. Little one baby...

10:12
Daniil: While I hope that how proud I am of Kamila's short program... There she will show... It seems to me that there is both music and an idea.

TAT: Tell me what kind of music is there.

Daniil: I can turn on this music.

TAT: Turn it on.

Daniil: The only pity is that without Kamila, of course ...

TAT: Thank you. Well, you know - not all at once, a good little bit.

Daniil: I think it will be good...

TAT: I love this boy so much, I'm dying from him! Here is this boy. Good. And that girl with sleeves is also good.

ET: Praise and flattery at this age is not very good.

TAT: Even awful.

ET: Discipline! Discipline determines the result. The same weighing - this is discipline.

TAT: Of course.

ET: There is a [rule]. As I say, it should be written at the entrance [to the skating rink]: “Discipline determines the result.” It's all!

TAT: So write it down. (to Gleichengauz) Well, turn on the [music].

ET (to Gleichengauz): Maybe you can make a spiritual beginning for us (inaudible)

12:02

TAT: Amazing music! Simply amazing. And I've never heard it, and I listen to a lot

ET: What I liked - I really wanted to take Camila away from her usual image in her presentation and it seems that it worked out, and very well.

TAT: Very... Staging on a program to this music is pure pleasure.

ET: We have already staged the program.

TAT: Yes, I understand. Everything is here - one and the other. High and full...

ET: The main thing is that she could... so that she could collect everything by her intelligence (I'm not sure, it's hard to hear). She must be strong enough.

TAT: And you can do a step sequence, and that's it ... (to Gleichenhaus) Great! Yes, right. Yes, yes, so that it was closed like in a box (before that, Daniil and Eteri exchanged some phrases that were not heard at all)

TAT: Amazing music! Congratulations. Amazing. I always listen to a lot of music. I don't understand why, but I listen. But I have never seen this music. And if I have not met, then others are completely far from it. Awesome! And the program will certainly be amazing. And when you did the production of the program, your insides were probably shaking

Daniil: Well, I say that these were the best moments of the summer for me.

TAT: Yes!

13:40

TAT: You know, as Tamara Nikolaevna used to say here, in our years, when we worked together, she said: “Bad advertising is also advertising.”

ET: I have more bad publicity than good publicity (laughs).

TAT: And you have good advertising all on a pedestal. You do not need to advertise, you advertise yourself. You all take first, second and third places in the world, I don’t know how at all ...

ET: And how to go out into the world if we are not allowed anywhere? Where to get out?

TAT: How to motivate them?

ET: I don't know...

TAT: How to tell them every day...

ET: Yes, yes...

TAT: How to drag them along, every day higher, higher, higher? Something new to learn - like when they know: “I will not compete” [in international tournaments]

ET: For example, Sonya Akatieva. She would probably be the junior world champion by now, well...

TAT: Who exactly?

ET: Well, Sonya Akatieva. In the last season. So what? And [now] she's nobody. No title, no nothing. But we are not promised "tomorrow". You see, athletes need it here and now. Tomorrow may not exist.

TAT: There may not be tomorrow. And what day it will be - is also unknown.

ET: Yes.

TAT: Well, anyway, I believe in our idiocy, when we go out and still tear everyone to pieces... That boy over there jumped so well, so well! You know, I'm watching him, but in general I'm watching three.

ET: Well, he's very nervous. In general, I try to pay as little attention to him as possible, because if he understands that attention is paid to him, then he is all ...

TAT: Is he nervous?

ET: Yeah, he's all tense up like that

TAT: Well, standing on her right leg...

ET: Adele, where the hell are you going? Well, where are you going? Why are you turning there? You have been told that you stood too long while performing the arc.

15:44

TAT: It's hard, of course, the first months of work. When you look at them, how much weight they have gained...

ET: Well, they also come in completely... I don't know... You know, I always say that one gram of fat is one gram of laziness. That's how much weight they put on...

TAT: Lazy, laziness, of course...

ET: Yes, how much weight they got - its how much laziness they have.

TAT: Weight is laziness. You have to force yourself to get up, go, run. Not that all this ... Here he jumped great! Well done!

16:21

TAT: Is your left [leg injured]?

Akatieva: Yes

ET: Why don't you practice the quad loop on the right?

Akatieva looks away in embarrassment.

TAT: What? By now, you would have learned another quad. While the body comes to its senses and gets used to skate. On the right leg, something [can be done] and 3 + 3 loop is also a nice thing. Do you make this element?

Akatieva: I'm training it.

ET: No, no, she doesn't like cascades with loops. It is necessary to directly [force] her

TAT: somehow today I didn't see a 3+3 combination with a loop.

Akatieva: I didn’t jump loop today, we didn’t have such a task. Just [inaudible] jumped and lyed on ice.

ET: Lyed on ice?

Akatieva: Yes, lyed around...

TAT: Why you lyed around?

Akatieva: By chance. Oh, they're filming me...

ET: Yes, everything is filmed!

Akat'yeva: I've been talking too much...

ET: Go!

TAT: Can I say something to that Georgian guy over there?

ET: Nika! Go here.

TAT: His name is Nika?

ET: Nika.

TAT: Nika, hello, I'm Tatyana Anatolyevna. And you are Nika. Very nice.

Nika: I am also very pleased.

TAT: You skate very nicely. So you jump [good], and everything else you do just like that [fine]. But... And your hands are very good. But your wrists and palms do not complete the movement. Any movement begins with the hands, and any movement ends with them. Even if you entered the top three - and again! And you know, you forget about the wrists and palms. You neglect them, but [if you use brists and palms], then the arms would become [visually] even longer. If you do it with this central finger... Well, you heard - go and take steps before of the loop.

18:36

TAT: Wrist and palm! Like this! That's better. Like this! He does it [correctly] once out of two possible. Good boy. Yes, you did, but you did it once out of two. You make one move and forget the other. You do one thing, you forget the other. Here, analyze this. I'll come back in two weeks, if Eteri Georgievna allows me...

ET: We'll be waiting!

TAT: I'm happy about the choreographic part... Yes, but you yourself feel that your hands are almost clenched into a fist.

Nika: (apparently says he will try to fix)

TAT: Because you skate very beautifully.

Nika: I'll try.

TAT: Try! And where do we go - we are all trying. Each in their own way. Here, try. Good luck to you.

Nika: All the best! Stay healthy!

TAT: Thank you! We are also trying, so we will have health anyway.

ET: Come on, come on, turn around, skate! Well, in the end you do not turn around! Well, you need the rear arch to turn around here! And you just fly...

ET (turns to TAT): She is mood addicted girl. Today I can jump, but tomorrow I don’t want to skate at all. Never!

TAT: What do you need to do? Is that what [coach] shows you?

Adelia: [I must] to turn around...

TAT: Go and do it. Go and do what you've been shown.

ET: She told me today, “I can't do it today. I can not today!"

Adelia: Just imagine...

ET: I can't!

TAT: Come on, go and do what the coach tells you to do. Don't start again at random - come on.

TAT: I want to get up. Yes thanks a lot.

(skaters gather near the edge)

TAT: Thank you all for the training, first of all thanks to the coaches, and then to you all. You all don't show [your capabilities] at all. If you even make a jump, you don't show exit at all. I thought so. You jumped and that's it. But the exit begins even when you are in the air. Here, but you all don't do it, you all seem to be in a madhouse for a bit. Everyone has good jumps, everyone jumps, everyone makes lutz...

(says to Adele) You dont must to cry, you must to do it.

Its all, good luck to you. Listen to the coaches. Listen and do what they see in you and what they ask of you. And you must to do it. Good luck, I'll be back in two weeks.

ET: Thank you very much.

TAT: Nothing. My dears, run!

(children leave, Eteri, Daniil and Dudakov thank Tarasova)

ET: See you in two weeks. We'll probably show you... Well, we'll probably be able show Sasha to you

Well, we'll probably be able show Sasha to you
Thank you once again for the complete translation (y)
