I tried twice to explain that this is not about my or your point of view, but about what is damaging the global reputation of Russian figure skating. I don't know if you can't understand or don't want to understand, I just know I won't explain it for the third time.

Just take a look at Sofia Dzepka's entrance and height to her 3Lz at 2:00 mark. :points:

I'm so happy she decided to return to figure skating last season.

And it's great to see she has back all of her triples and the triple-triples, she was just restoring them and doing easier 3-2-combos at the end of last season. First in the free here is a really good sign, she just has to also produce a clean short and she will be back on the podium. ❤️

I am delighted to see her return too. She is a beautiful skater. Such a talent. Definitely rooting for her.

Apparently, this is the entry list for Stage 1 of the Russian GP this weekend.

1. Sofya Akateva
2. Karina Askarova
3. Kamila Valieva
4. Alina Gorbacheva
5. Maria Grechikhina
6. Sofia Zakharova
7. Anastasia Zinina
8. Margarita Kovaleva
9. Anastasia Molchanova
10. Polina Sviridenko
11. Anastasia Khakhyrtdinova
12. Valeria Shulskaya

The entry list being released days before the competition, instead of hours before? Sign of the apocalypse for sure.

The big takeaway is that there is a huge opportunity for someone not seeded to get themselves noticed. There will be a lot of attention on this event and they get to test themselves against the best in the world.
Definitely a step up on competition.
These girls have been working hard out of the spotlight, and if you have been watching the local city events like me, a lot of the names above have been skating a ton in competition.

Let’s see who can grab the bull by the horns and take the next step. There is at worst, a bronze medal up for grabs.

Yeah, when I saw that the list for seniors was out and the list for juniors was not, I was somehow not even surprised anymore :palmf:😂
I made a prediction a while back that there will be an event that will not have the skaters revealed until they hit the ice for warmups.

Or they will just do away with names and have the anonymous GP, where everyone is just called Skater#1, Skater#2 etc.

We have an interesting battle brewing in this first Russian Cup. I thought Eteri would for sure place Kamila and Sofia in separate events. The battle for gold will be interesting between these two.
Also, the battle for bronze is super intriguing to me. A bronze here, puts the athlete in the 7-9 range in Russia, which is good in terms of making it on the Reserve list for the team.

Also, I need the Junior list to come out. I need to know whether or not to take a day off work. I will only do this, if Veronika Yametova is on the list 😳😝

Nobody does figure skating hype videos as well as Channel One. Nobody else is even close.

Gets you all pumped up and excited.

Makes every event seem like it’s the most important event ever.

ISU needs to hire whoever is responsible for figure skating promotion for Channel 1 as the ISU marketing rep. I know Russian fed has some skeletons in its closet but promotion and accessibility of skaters and events they are the best at it

Or Channel 1 should just wait until the ISU goes into liquidation and just buy the remains. Haha

Haven’t been there in months, but does the ISU website still have a 1998 interface?

Valieva vs Akateva is the matchup we have been waiting to see. The best two in the world head to head. Moscow is the centre of the figure skating universe this weekend.
I am so excited to see this showdown!!!

Hopefully Kami restores all her ultra-c in time (I know she's restored her 4T, but I am not sure about the 3A or 4S) so that we can see the 3A's, 4S's, and 4T's of both Sofia and Kami go head to head.

They are the only ones of the top skaters who's ultra-c elements evenly match up with each other and can push the exact same FS tech layouts when in top shape with the same BV.
