And this felt like the next cycle is beginning. Just like we transitioned from the Zagotova-Medvedeva era to the Anna-Kamila era, it seems we are now entering the Adelia-Akatieva era.
This is why this sport is so special, humans doing non-human things: gliding, rotating, flying...
She didn't care in the first place. Whether she was able or unable to do it we don't know, but I would never bet against Anna Shcherbakova's ability of achieving her goals in sport. She finished the most consistent in ladies for the season. Survived a body transformation over the past 12 months, which Sofia S, Trusova, Shcherbakova have been unable to do.
According to Vladislav Zhukov (RIA), Daria Usacheva is planning to switch to Iсe Dance. Moreover, she had been skating with Dario Cirisano for several weeks but they didn't match each other. Dasha is currently looking for a partner and a coaching team.
Hmmm, hopefully, if the rumour is true, she will have more success than Kanysheva...That is good for Usacheva. She has very good basics and musicality.
NCAO. Never count Anna out, even if she volunteers to count herself out. HahaShe didn't care in the first place. Whether she was able or unable to do it we don't know, but I would never bet against Anna Shcherbakova's ability of achieving her goals in sport.![]()
The sad part about this is that it’s very persuasive evidence that her injury ended up being worse that everyone thought and it ended her single’s career.According to Vladislav Zhukov (RIA), Daria Usacheva is planning to switch to Iсe Dance. I don’t think we can say at this stage that it will be between Petrosian and Akatieva. Internationally, Akatieva won’t be senior eligible for another 2.5 seasons , and with her there will be other skaters who will become senior eligible (Gorbacheva, Zhilina etc.) It is too early to guess who will get through puberty. Look at Samodelkina - she is the same ISU eligibility group as Muravieva and Petrosian; throughout juniors Samodelkina was always stronger than them, this is the season all three became senior eligible and currently she is lagging behind. Similar with Nugumanova/Gubanova/Samodurova. Nugumanova and Gubanova were the stars and Samodurova was always behind. By the time they got to seniors, it is Samodurova who has a gold medal from Europeans representing Russia, Nugumanova never got to Europeans and Gubanova only managed to be sent after she changed countries. She did eventually manage to get a gold medal from Europeans, but only after Russians were not allowed to compete. (considering her score, it is pretty clear she wouldn’t get the gold medal if top Russian ladies were allowed to compete.)And this felt like the next cycle is beginning. Her quad toe is the most stable jump in the entire sport. 12 in a row now including the jump comp. Of course, overall she's not as good as last season and will never reach those heights again.
It remains to be seen whether Akatieva or Adelia can survive any kind of growth spurt which they are probably due for over the next 12 months.
I don't think Kamila will grow too much more she would be 165cm right now, it's not like she's going to grow to 175cm.
So, it seems like my prediction may end up as accurate as the one I made about Samodelkina.I don’t think we can say at this stage that it will be between Petrosian and Akatieva. With the season ending next month, thought it was a good time to see what the national team looked like going into the season:
Kamila Valieva
Sofia Muravieva
Adeliia Petrosian
Aleksandra Trusova
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
Anna Shcherbakova
Reserves:
Aliona Kostornaia
Daria Usacheva
Maiia Khromykh
It’s immediately apparent that it will look different next season. I think that, at minimum, 2 of the reserves will be different. One is in a different discipline and the other will reportedly be going into a different discipline as well because of injury. Maiia, I don’t know, depends on what her recovery is like.
There might also be an opening or 2 for a spot on the first team.
It is amazing what a difference half a year makes. Time moves quickly and waits for no one in Russia ladies figure skating land.

Gubanova finest years were all squander in domestic events where she was artificially held down by the Russian Fed.I don’t think we can say at this stage that it will be between Petrosian and Akatieva. Oh please…stop with that nonsense! Surely you don’t blame the skating federation for the fact that Gubanova couldn’t manage to skate one whole competition clean at any nationals she attended. They were prepared to give her the marks, but with having so many skaters who did skate clean, every mistake Gubanova did was pretty costly. Her results from senior nationals were 7th, 6th, 9th, 10th - how could they send her to the Europeans/worlds instead of another skater?Gubanova finest years were all squander in domestic events where she was artificially held down by the Russian Fed.
