2022 Latvia Trophy

We have now reached the end of Group 1, and out of the 6 skaters, 3 of them had music issues.

Hopefully during this warm-up they will have got all the music for Group 2 lined up and ready to play, and there will be no further issues.

And I am not just saying that because I have a kid in this group.

It must be so unsettling for the skaters when this happens to them. There is enough that could go wrong on the ice without adding off-ice issues into the mix.

Time for my kid. And hopefully her music will be ready to play for her. And if not, she should send SuperSimone after the music master! Although, given how slow sloths are, I don't fancy the chances of him catching up with the person. :p

Regrettably, I have to do some shopping now, but I'll be back. I know one of the girls personally, so I wish to see her skate!
 
Oooh. Different music to what she was using earlier in the season.

An epic version of "Young And Beautiful", followed by another song that I don't know.

On the whole, it looked good to me. There was one moment that I wasn't sure whether it was a choreographic slide or whether she fell. But, that should become obvious when the scores are announced.

No deductions, so it must have been a slide.

And we finally have a new leader. She leads by 8.84 points over the skater that kicked off the segment, Julia van DIJK (NED).

It's a pity I don't speak Dutch, because the camera was right beside one of the coaches during the warm-up, and when his skater came over, we could hear everything that was being said perfectly clearly.

I'll edit this post whenever she comes on to let you know who she was.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It was Paula NELSONE (LAT). It must have been the shadow from the camera that made it look like the bottom stripe of the flag was a darker colour than the top stripe.​

OK, Alana Pang's ISU was updated 2 days ago, but she was certainly not skating to "Never Enough" like it says she was! She was skating to a French song. But I can't for the life of me remember what it is called! :drama: And it is annoying me. Which is why I looked at her ISU Bio.

I enjoyed it. But, it looks like I am in the minority, as she goes down into 11th position out of 13.

So, it was Paula NELSONE (LAT) that we were eariwigging on during the warm-up.

The funny thing is she has somebody different sitting with her for the results. Either that, or a middle-aged bloke has somehow turned into a much younger girl! :laugh:

Anyway, Paula slots in 1 position and 0.40 points above Alana PANG (GBR).

I was back just in time for Jane. Of course she fell on the 2axel. I think she has hated axels since she was skating with the basic novices! The Dutch girls are rather loud in their appreciation of everyone!
 
I think Emilia skated quite well, even if it take long to prepare her jumps! She has time. She's only 13, soon to be 14.

You know, in a competition where there were 24 skaters, it is surprising that we only had 2 skaters occupy the top position. Julia van DIJK (NED) led for the first 8 skaters, and then Stefania YAKOVLEVA (CYP) led for the rest of the segment.

Since then, Maria Eliise KALJUVERE (EST) has slotted into 2nd position, pretty much exactly half-way between them. She is 4.41 points behind Stefania and 4.43 points ahead of Julia.

In fact, Julia is at the head of a group where 6 skaters are covered by just 5.04 points. And 4 of those 6 skaters are Dutch! So, there will be a lot of local rivalry going on.

It's all going to make for an exciting Free Skate!

I bet Sharlote JEKABSONE (LAT) wishes that it was the "Susanna" in the song that did that programme instead of her. Because that was a nightmare skate.

I counted 3 falls. Which gave her 4 points in deductions.

Same number of deductions as the other Latvian in Group 1, skater #2 Elizabete JUBKANE. But, it is Sharlote that goes into last position, 8.32 points behind Elizabete.

The skaters from Group 1 are very spread out. Lots of spaces for subsequent skaters to slot into.

That is if we get to see them. Because the screen has gone all green! :eek:

Hope it is sorted out by the end of the Warm-Up. Because I have a kid coming up in this group!

We can hear the "Gypsy Dance" playing, but all we see is a green screen.

Well, somewhere through the green screen, Marilena has taken a 12.24 point lead over Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (LTU).

These two, along with Anastasija ARKHIPOVA (UKR) in 4th position, are the only skaters that have no deductions.

And that's about as much as I can say at the moment. We'll have to wait to see the Protocols to find out more.

Oh, the green screen and the sound has gone now. We now have a black screen with a red question mark.

Then the live pictures came back, but with no sound. So, we at least saw the tail end of the programme from Jade HOVINE (BEL).

Then, just after Jade finished, the sound came back too!
