2022 Latvia Trophy

Beautiful, Nina. Just beautiful.

Into 3rd. But just 0.36 behind Sofja STEPCHENKO (LAT) in 2nd.

Now to find out which Angelīna KUČVAĻSKA shows up. The amazing one, or the cactus. 🌵

Not enough for Worlds yet, I think she don't have it yet. But Nina has one of the best dresses of the season.

Very awkward landing on one of the jumps. Thank goodness her blade didn't catch on any rough ice, or it could have been very nasty.

Otherwise, very good!!!

She looks very happy. And so she should.

Having not seen Marilena, I have no idea if she is liable to take the lead off her.

No, she goes into 4th. Very close to Jade HOVINE (BEL) in 5th.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Can it be? Am I imagining things? Are my eyes deceiving me? Am I dreaming?

Or are both of my kids leading their respective categories after the Short Programmes???!!! :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

:cheer: WELL DONE STEFANIA AND MARILENA!!! :cheer:

Congrats to your two girls. They must have heard you cheering for them from this forum. I’m amazed at how well they skated at both competitions. You must be so proud of them.

Oh, for goodness sake. I forgot that Latvia is 2 hours ahead of my, not 1 hour. I thought the Junior Men's FS was starting now. But, it's over! :drama: :slink:

Well, since I went to the bother of making it out, I'll post the reminder anyway.

Now that the girls have done their Short Programmes, it is time for the boys to do likewise. 8 Juniors, followed by 2 Seniors.

Livestream for the Junior Men's SP was on air an hour ago.

Here is the link for the archived livestream (starts at 9h 09m 37s):

From the Juniors, we move to the Seniors to end the day. And hopefully I've got it right this time!

EDIT: No, I don't. I'm 10 minutes late! :palmf:

Livestream for the Senior Men's SP is now on air.

Just watched the Senior Men's SP. And I discovered why it started 10 minutes earlier than planned. There were actually 3 guys skating, not 2.

Ukrainian skater Fedir KULISH skated before his compatriot Glib SMOTROV.

The graphic said Kulish was in the Interclub part of the event, but there was no mention of him in the Interclub Entries / Results page.

But, it was nice to see an extra skater out there.

Yes maybe Latvian Fed thought "we finally can sell tickets for money when we have Deniss"
And that worked! Not his best day but we got some new "Deniss' face goes through emoji handbook"-moments 😍

I was surprised to see Angelo there as I thought he might just be accompained by family or a local coach. Good that he can leave the gifts at his parents' house cause he would need to get more suitcases to take them all to Switzerland. And there's more to come tomorrow!

Day 3 of the Latvia Trophy is starting now. And we have a different running order to yesterday. We have a Junior double-bill, and then a Senior double-bill. In each case, girls followed by boys.

Livestream for the Junior Ladies FS is now on air.

I’m enjoying this competition. I also really like the attitude of the Latvian judges with their humour in the kiss n cry section.

My goodness. It took a VERY long time for Karolina KOSENOKA (LAT) to get her scores. I thought that was going to be a bad sign, but she went into the lead.

So, like in the SP yesterday, it took a long time for the first to skate to lose the lead of the segment.

Now for Alana.

Oh no! "Tango de Roxanne" 🙉

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ALANA!!! :cheer:

It is taking Alana a long time to get her breath back. The programme must have really taken it out of her.

I wonder has she been doing more Solo Dance than Singles Skating recently.

She had a fall on her first element.

Love the way she got up and went over to the screen to really study the breakdown of how her elements were scored. That's the sign of somebody who takes this very seriously, and cares about how they do.

She goes into 2nd in the FS, but into 1st overall. By only 0.11 points overall! :drama:

:cheer: WELL DONE ALANA!!! :cheer:
