I would have the Japanese ahead of both Americans; their program was the most complex of the 3 teams and they exhibited the most joy as well. If not for their SP, M/K would be in 1st!

The judges have generally done a good job in pairs. This rightfully was second in the free but first because of the short.

I'm literally crying for Alexa. She's been through so much. First these undiagnosed health issues, then surgeries. Then her husband who couldn't land a sbs jump to save his life. Then they qualified for Pyeongchang with a godawful skate purely because everyone else was even more godawful. Then they didn't even qualify for the free skate. Then covid, couldn't train, new partner, all went well but couldn't skate at Nats. And here they are, at least 6th at the Olympics!

For such a new pair I am so pleased for Alexa & Brandon. Not perfect, but very very good. They lived up to their vision of the music and made me enjoy it weird cuts and all. I am very proud of my US teams no matter where they finish. If they both can do this at Worlds then maybe I can dream of 3 spots.
