I am so sorry to hear this! I enjoyed Paul / Islam's skating very much and had been so glad to hear of their off-ice happiness as well. Just heartbreaking. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

My thoughts & condolences are with Paul, baby Charles, and their families. As a skater, I always thought she had the face of an angel, and now I know why.

Jr Pairs: Jazmine Desrochers/Kieran Thrasher, Ava Kemp/Yohnatan Elizarov
Jr Ice Dance: Jamie Fournier/Everest Zhu, Audra Gans/Michael Boutsan

CS Nebelhorn Trophy Entries:

Aleksa Rakic (Also finally!)

Brooke/Ben will probably be assigned Finlandia, it's the last pairs Challenger before the Grand Prix starts.

2017 was the last time Canada sent singles to Nepela, so probably Finlandia for Maddie. Conrad too, but there's still Roman. Maybe they'll remember that they can send more than one singles skater?

glad to see two pairs sent... that deserves a finally as well :)

i like these assignments very much. It is very useful to see how L/É will fare internationally next to P/M and same in dance with F/A and L/R.

Fiona needs to be sent out too...
Preference is supposed to be for those with a GP assignment, so I was surprised that Aleksa got assigned Nebelhorn. I hope that's a sign that they remembered they can send disciplines other than ice dance to Nepela and Fiona gets an assignment.

Of course... At the same time, it would be very easy to send her to ACI

Yay! Lulu. She has been waiting two years for this moment.
Also, Aleksa 👏 (Hitting those domestic score targets does wonders 😜)

I’m very happy with Skate Canada. Got to give them credit for sending the right skaters out. I’m going to enjoy all these upcoming events

Yes. But still... they need to do even better :)

Yes she does. But it seems Sara-Maude is the CAN lady of choice this year. She even got assigned to SCI before any of her summer skates.
I think that the SCI reward came from her great performance at 4CC. And then, as explained, the challengers are given to those with GP assignments....

I get that but the fact is if Fiona doesn't get sent out she doesn't even have a chance to have a great performance. Fiona got one assignment and that was at a USA event so there was no chance she would get scored well no matter how well she skated.

Ben and Brooke would be at High Performance Camp this week.

(of course, still no Fiona but the camp is for skaters with GP assignments...)

Pairs in Canada this year is going to be a highly contested event. Brooke and Ben were 2nd last year, won a GP medal, went to worlds and have a GP assignment. Yet they may get left behind this year. They certainly got passed big time by Lea and Trennt at worlds. Of course Lea and Trennt are going to have to prove themselves as well to get back to worlds.

Seeing Kelly Ann and Loucas live at CQÉ = They have improved SO SO MUCH ! Their tech content is potentially the highest as well.
And... they came just behind Nic and Emma at CQÉ.

We will have to wait and see, but I think Ben and Brooke will fall behind. They are still quite young.
Lia and Trennt : I was a bit worried about lifts and throws last year. We will need to wait and see.

Both L/É and P/N are doing a triple loop in the LP and sometimes, just a small difference in BV with pairs pretty much all doing the same elements can become a ranking factor.

Martina Ariano Kent and Charly Laliberté-Laurent or Marly as I have nicknamed them, just won gold on their first ever international competition at the JGP Linz. They had quite a lead too on the second place finishers. They skated pretty clean.

First to skate in the SP, they skated last to win it in the LP.
