I'm sorry I couldn't watch the Cup of China, but what happened to Gilles/Poirier???....How are they behind Lajoie/Lagha, on the scoreboard...it looks like that everything was higher than than Lajoie/Lagha, so...did they make it mistake or something??...is this a worrying sign for their gold medal campaign for Worlds???...I know Lajoie/Lagha is a Canadian team and I should be happy for them as a Canadian (which I am), but...I really want G/P to get the gold medal that they couldn't get last year after a dominating first half of the season and than a very unfortunate injury that completely derailed their season...we all know that they would have won gold had that not happened...I really want them to get the gold they deserve...ok...I'm rambling...sorry...
A minor flub by Piper on a twizzle. Barely noticeable unless you were a judge. Just enough to put them slightly behind Lajoie and Lagha who were very much at their best.

It was actually a pretty noticeable error. Still, I'm surprised that they are that far behind their Skate Canada score, even with the error. They must have been nailed for it

They were nailed for the twizzle mistake. Really nailed. Nothing to worry about though. They scored very well on what they did well. I am thinking PCS were affected a bit too since the mistake was quite striking considering the quality of the rest of the elements.

The free dance starts in 40 minutes... come and cheer for our Canadian teams :)

I'll have to watch it again. Must have been at an instant when my cat poked his head around the edge of the laptop screen and sang me the song of his starving people. I didn't see anything happen at the time, although I heard the commentator say something along the uh-oh lines, so I assumed it was just a tiny slip-up.

Two more teams through to the Final. Though we've now mostly hit our likely medal tally for the season, probably just one more silver to come from the remaining two events.

We'll see if Marjorie & Zach's scoring here is an outlier in the short term. But I think they could very plausibly push themselves up to the Canada #2 spot this season.

3 more teams. Piper and Paul, LaLa, DSD. There is almost no mathematical possibility that LALA will not qualify for GPF

Yeah, I know they're de facto in, but de jure it's still theoretically possible for them not be.
I was trying to find a scenario that kicked them out and that would mean pretty much that the Italians or CB finish 3rd in one event... :) and that the Lithuanians or Finns finish first at that same event. Then there would be a tie breaker with the Brits based on score.

It's pretty tough for them not to make it at this point as 26 can only be beaten by 30, 28 and 26 with a 15+11 or 13+13 with a higher score.
For the 30 pointers, we assume that Chock and Bates and GF will get them. If they don't and teams with 13 get them, like FBS or FG, it doesn't matter.... 4 teams would be at 28 and LALA would still be number 6. If R/A or the Finns want to make their move and qualify, it most likely means that the Brits would not qualify (or FBS ...)... So sure, we can wait for it to be official but it would need a major screw up from a top team plus a huge surprise from the Lithuanians (don't see that happening ) or the Finns...

:ot: CANADA just won Billie Jean King Cup so our women are World champions of Tennis !!!! and for a few weeks, as the men won Davis Cup last year, Canadian tennis is on top of the planet ! Amazing.

@mrrice will be happy to know that Genie contributed to this achievement winning two doubles matches earlier in the group stage.

Another good free skate from Maddie. She really needs to nail that short. It would almost automatically raise her PCS and GOE if she was in the last group. She doesn't have the rep to have the judges' consideration otherwise.
I am relieved to see Maddie come back twice in a row in the LP. She used to completely disintegrate last year in the LPs. I also like her strategy to go with the flip and salchow early. Last year, she had issues doing these passes in the second half.
Now, if she only could have 2 great skates back to back and indeed, get the PCS /GOE she deserves, that would be awesome.

Let's start the sage burning, the incantations, the visualization and the prayers... whatever floats your boat.

There are two spots in men vacated at Espoo... Conrad is really high on the replacement list. It's quite late and Espoo doesn't have to replace the two spots... but he needs this so badly so I am throwing this in the universe.

Well : plot twist per Skate Canada website... I am NOT happy. Nothing wrong to give two challengers to Roman. Of course. But why just him?

:bang:

I'm not surprised about Roman being assigned there, but really... when they have tracking the number of athletes achieving the minimum TES across all disciplines as part of their strategic plan, and they have only one woman with the TES minimums...

If they want depth in all the disciplines (also part of their strategic plan!), how is this achieving that goal? They're doing good work in other areas, like with the changes in definitions for pairs/ice dance to allow for same-gender teams and having every competition be streamed for free, right down to the individual sections. Then I look at how singles is going, and it's frustrating. What exactly is their plan?
