Mao's choreographer is Lori and one can see it. Not a fate-deciding competition for her, and considering that she did well, and this is a work in progress. Sticking two more years in juniors is going to be hard for her.

If she's completely clean, it's not impossible with the nationals inflation. Although the score fluffing is way smaller in Japan than in other countries.

The 3A was probably the best jumping pass. The jump is consistent so perhaps she should consider putting it in combination.

Hamada's women skaters normally don't repeat ultra-c jumps, I think it's because a). if you have a bad jump day you lose a lot of points with reps, b). you can develop a mental block which is also problematic, and c). stopping the rotation of a 3A or quad to put it in combination can put a lot of strain on the back. I know she's a questionable coach but her skaters' layouts are usually pretty smart.

I wish I could go! But I'm keeping my fingers crossed she might be assigned to Gdansk in the next two season, so I'll be able to see her live.

I so badly want Mai to do well, I think her programs this season are some of her best and she deserves a triumph moment at Worlds. But I also don't like that she's skating through injury here, and I worry a Worlds/4CC assignment would prolong the injury and prevent recovery time. But I also don't want her to have a bad skate or drop in the rankings
