2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Kazan

Sofia Diana Cousins (daughter of Elena Berezhnaya) is making progress in pairs skating, but she still has trouble landing. And her jumps are always a lottery. But I like this program with music from an old Soviet movie for child "Fairy Tale of Wanderings". It was created by Alfred Schnittke

Sorry, I came across such a strange transcription of her surname on sports websites  It's always funny when you translate it from English to Russian and back again.
Of course, she's Cousins. And her second name I've never heard, I didn't know she is Diana.
By the way, she is a cadet and studies at a naval school in St. Petersburg. Could you think of that when you look at this baby?

I’ll miss Merenkova/Galimov :( Please shout extra loud for them. Hope I’m back in time for my other two pairs.

Not bad from M/G. I like the music choice but it't difficult to do it justice on the ice. A little more passion was missing.

I'm home now. Have to have a replay later on Nika/Danya. They delivered so well on their first outing this season. Shame they are struggling since.

Super happy for Varya and Pavel! A really nice programme for them. I'm sure Julia and Ilya will work on their tech side of things, the performance is quite enjoyable.
Sad for Nika and Danya - must have a look at their programme tonight.

I am SUPER nervous for Talalaikina here.

She needs to finish 5th or better to get to Nationals. She won't be able to beat Valieva/Gorbacheva/Muravieva/Sadkova. So 5th is what she can hope for even if she's super clean.
Then we have the other S:t Petersburgers Ovchinnikova and Sviridenko? What can they do? Kozyreva/Kshetskaya/Gubasheva might be good too.

Very tough field for Maria.

hey I'm way behind because I've been so busy and I'm trying to get caught back up. I missed the first 3 stages. I see the Junior girls SP and FS on youtube, but I cannot find the Senior ladies SP and FS anywhere. Does anyone have the past 3 stages of Senior ladies SP and FS saved somewhere I can download or watch?
I'm not Russian and I live in the US.

I've had no problem getting caught up on ISU junior and senior events via VPN because they're all over youtube. But this is the first time I've struggled to find Russian senior events.

Well on the plus side I'll be able to catch the Junior Men and Junior Women's Free skates, I think... not the short programs though, they're on too late!

And hey I just noticed Kirill S is here! I hope he has a better time than he did a couple of weeks back in Krasnoyarsk. I'm cheering him on whatever the case.

Also Tito is here! Gooooo Tito! :cheer:

You can use Canadian VPN, I also see lots of people use Netherlands (they're probably EU).

To navigate, all you need to know:

короткая программа = short program
произвольная программа = free skate
показать еще = show more

It might be a bit annoying to navigate but easily doable. You just click the part at the top to choose either short or free program based on the translations I provided, then you can keep scrolling down and click the show more button when needed (with the translation I gave, and it should be obvious which button that is anyways) and you will find the full replays of the events. It will take a bit of scrolling since as you will obviously see there is also every individual performance uploaded in order between the full event replays (thankfully its not random so you can watch them all that way if you want). But, dont worry, its not too much and everything else should be obvious from thumbnails and length of the videos. Hope this helps.

After watching the replay, I also feel that there was a certain 'umpf' missing. Still don't get it, they delivered it beautifully at the start of the season... Things can only get better. 🤞🤞🤞
