2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Kazan

Some weak moments but overall this wasn't so bad. Karima has very nice flow. The music choice is rather malade.

Part of it is, I'm convinced genetic. I always had issues, it was my biggest problem as an athlete, yet I have a daughter who has always had endless stamina. (Now she runs marathons). There are also diet and training components of course.

The athletes that have long careers at a high level are genetic freaks and are the top 0.001% of people that have ever attempted a particular sport. Talent, stamina, athleticism, ability to avoid injury, be able to carry injuries, mental toughness, remain calm under intense pressure.

In any other sport, your body will break down in your teenage years (like me) if you don't have the durability gene. It seems like more skaters break down at a young age but it's only because we are watching teenagers skate who have not yet discovered they aren't genetic freaks who can withstand incredible punishment without constant injury. In any other sport you discover this away from the cameras, away from the spotlight, not on a world or national stage.

I think this program is really interesting and unique. I really like the outfit too.

Shame she gassed out but it reminds me a lot of Talalaikina in her first stage and we see how she upgraded yesterday so I totally have belief in Sviridenko for her next stage.

Yea, people dont realize all top athletes are genetic freaks. When people think genetic freak they think of bodybuilders or wrestlers but these figure skaters like Kamila are incredibly powerful too with no doubt.

By the way, what sport did you train?

Very nice performance by Renata. But somehow it looks like the music is holding her back. She has the energy to skate to the original, not this depressive cover.

I pointed his age not only because of the potential injuries in near future, but also because of the way you talk about his personality. I find it a bit harsh for someone who just turned 14. He's still a kid and this is not his final form.
If it changes, it changes, and I would find it easier to be happy that he podiumed. However, a skater's personality is the part of the package, and it is true for every age, particularly when it is this grating and obvious. I root more for his competitors, and I am pretty sure they can and they will outscore him as time goes by. They did before, they will again. It's figure skating.

Trying to catch up on men, but streams filed on the 1Tv website just randomly go dark. Hopefully pairs are available.

Edit: pairs still there, yay! I will do both short and free then not to miss it.

Yeah, most of athletes who dominate and for a long time, have that genetic particularity that makes all the difference (like Phelps or Bolt).
I would like to know what makes it possible for Uno to never get badly injured like other skaters or for Chen to be able to skate 5-6 quads programs and not die after.

Its not one thing its probably hundreds of genetic and environmental factors that add up.
