Now that the Advanced Novices have started their campaigns, it is time for the Juniors to do likewise. Again, we start with the boys. There were supposed to be 4 of them, but the 2 Malczyk brothers (CZE) that were to go in the middle have withdrawn.

Last Friday, during the Sofia Trophy, I was looking forward to seeing what Monika NEDVED (HRV) was like (for the explanation, see this post). But I was disappointed when it turned out that she had withdrawn.

Well, it turns out that seeing her had just been delayed for a week. Because she has just skated here!

I have to say, the dress would have been lovely, except that there was an area of silver sparklies over the whole of her left breast. It was very distracting, and really spoiled the whole look of the outfit.

She had a pop. And a fall. But otherwise, it wasn't bad.

Incidentally, her team-mate from the Medveščak club, Nevia Ana MEDIC, skated directly before her. And I liked her programme! But, she had two falls.

Nevia slotted into 5th position, and then Monika slotted in directly behind her.

I've still about an hour and a half to watch, but I see that in reality the action has finished now.

Just wondering - has Bono found what he is looking for yet?

After hearing that song after every single skater today, I am beyond sick of it! I hope they find a different song to play tomorrow.

Whoa! The girls aren't supposed to be starting until half past, but the first group is on the ice now doing their Warm-Up!

Well, I suppose it makes sense to start early rather than have a 10 minute break after the boys. At least it will help in the constant battle to prevent things running behind schedule later on.

Aha! Here comes our self-declared "biggest Max Verstappen fan out there!" (Source: this album of photos and videos from the 2021 Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps).

I didn't actually notice it until I watched her programme again last night but, I have to say, I did like the way Nijne van ERP (NED) worked the chequered flag design into her SP dress.

Wonder if there will be any cryptic, or even blatently obvious, F1 references today...

Well, Nijne certainly had a lot of support in the arena, as there was chanting when she was introduced, and loud cheers and / or applause whenever she did her jumps.

There were no F1 references this time. Not sure what the music was. We could barely hear it over the noise of the cameras clicking.

Next time, organisers, don't have the microphones placed close to the photographers.

And as well as her coach, she's got one of her team-mates sitting with her!

There's no microphones to hear the reaction, but they were all absolutely delighted when the scores were announced!

I take it they are celebrating the actual scores, because she has actually dropped a couple of positions from the SP.

She goes into 5th in the FS, and 3rd overall.

Just checked Rink Results - these are her second highest scores ever.

I take it skater #22, Maxima REBERNIG (AUT), has withdrawn, as we have been looking at an empty rink for a long time now.

Oh, I wish they wouldn't mute the sound in between programmes. Then maybe we would know what is going on.

EDIT: Actually, no. The picture has frozen. And now they've put up the list of skaters in Group 3 on top of it. What is going on?!​

Right, after showing some highlights, we saw Maxima sitting waiting for her scores. So, she did skate, but we just didn't see it.

And it looks like we are not going to see Vita KAS (SLO) either, as we are now looking at an empty sofa. And now the picture has gone completely black!

Gaaahhh!!!!

Aha! I hear "Supermassive Black Hole". And the pictures have now come back. So, we are at least getting to see some of Vita's programme.

Picture has gone black again for the highlights. But the picture of her waiting for the scores in the box is OK.

Oh, I hope we have no more issues during the final group.

And don't worry, this time I'll be prepared for the girls possibly starting earlier than planned! (Personally, I hope they do close up the gaps between segments. Because if we keep to the original schedule, I won't see any of the Seniors tonight! )

@Jeanie19 - you're doing well to pick out the colours of costumes.

There isn't enough lighting around the rink itself, and everything looks so much darker than it is. In contrast, there is too much lighting in the results area, and everything there looks bleached.

For example, when Chiara MINIGHINI (ITA) was skating a few minutes ago, I would have sworn that she was wearing a black dress. But when she got to the sofa, I realised it was actually a lovely royal blue dress.
