Hmm, I don't understand why Kyrylo Marsak didn't get a second JGP assignment. ☹️ He was my dark horse for the final. But he only has Istanbul as far as I saw.

Ice dance is pretty open here!
Especially compared to Solidarity Cup the week before, with 2 champions and 1 bronze medallist team competing in the same event!

With problems between Armenia & Azerbaijian, I am beginning to wonder if this JGP will happen.

Oh, drat. I read the story on the BBC's teletext service, but it never crossed my mind that it might affect the Junior GP being held.

And it should have done seeing as we had a similar situation with the same event last season.

Last year, the event was cancelled, and the skaters re-allocated to subsequent Junior GP's (the Armenian Cup was the fourth round in 2022, so there were 3 more Junior GP's following it). However, this year it is the final Junior GP. So there will be no subsequent events that the skaters can be re-allocated to.

And with the Senior GP's starting 2 weeks later, it means that if they were to have a replacement event, it would have to be on either the same weekend, or the following weekend. And given that the scheduled dates are just 2 weeks away, it doesn't give much time to find a replacement.

Unless, of course, Gdańsk is prepared to host back-to-back events again, like it did last season when the Croatian / 2nd French round was cancelled. But, they had 3 months to prepare last year, not 2 weeks!

But, we're getting ahead of ourselves. Things might calm down pretty quickly, and the Junior GP mightn't need to get cancelled.

Let's hope that is the case, and not just for figure skating reasons.

Not allowed to dive into a political discussion here, but there is no hope for "things to calm down pretty quickly" since the situation has been getting worse for many months now.
Maybe it will still go ahead, but certainly not because things are going to get better until then.

Oh, don't worry, I realise this is something that has been going on for years (over a century now!), and is not going to be solved overnight (if ever).

But, the latest story I read when doing my dinner time check of the BBC's teletext service says that there's been a ceasefire.

So, hopefully it will hold.
