2023 Tallinn Trophy | Nov 21-23

Haven't been commenting because I have been eating my dinner while watching, but had to come over to comment about the music being played during the Group 2 Warm-Up.

Alan Walker featuring Sophie Simmons - "Lovesick"

Not content with messing about with Chopin, there's now people messing about with Brahms! :drama:

And to finish off the Juniors, and the ISU part of the event, we have the girls. 29 of them, arranged into a group of 5 girls; followed by a group of 6 girls; followed by a resurfacing; followed by two groups of 6 girls; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 6 girls.

Livestream for Junior Ladies FS is now on air.

I never was able to work out who that was sitting with Varvara MOROZOVA (EST) yesterday, but I'm nearly sure that it was Nataly LANGERBAUR (EST) sitting with her today!

Well, after being in 2nd position in the SP, it'll be a few hours until Nataly will be taking to the ice. So, good to see her passing the time by supporting her team-mates.

I thought yesterday that Helina KULL (EST) looked very tall when she was at the boards with her coach. So, nosiness just got the better of me, and I looked up her ISU Bio. And it does have her height.

She's 176cm, which is 5ft 9in.

Yep. She's tall.

And given that she's only 15, she will very likely get even taller! 😲

Unfortunately, she had a couple of falls there now. So she is unlikely to reach the dizzying heights in the results table. (I know, I'll get my hat).

Ah, she did go into the lead of the FS and overall.

Ok, new tallest woman I've seen in skating - Even taller than Vika Safonova (174 cm) and and Lucinda Ruh (175 cm) who I thought were the tallest female skaters doing Triples and competing internationally.

Poor Polina KUROTSKINA (EST). It just wasn't her day.

Two falls, and countless other mistakes.

Pretty much as soon as she finished, her shoulders just sunk. She was so disappointed.

During the highlights, you could see in the picture-in-picture box that she was crying. But, at least she's got company to console her.

I'm not sure who the young girl with blonde hair is, but she was waving very enthusiastically to the camera! Which gave a moment of light relief from the sombre atmosphere.

Into 9th in the FS (out of 10), and 6th overall.

:ghug:

Ah, Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT) doesn't just have her coach, Jekaterina Platonova, sitting with her. She also has two other girls sitting with her.

No, Kuchvalska isn't one of them. It is two younger girls. And I would guess that the two girls are sisters, because they look very alike.

She goes into 4th in the FS, and 3rd overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Adela VALLOVA (CZE) has better than a coach or fellow skaters sitting with her.

SHE'S GOT MASTER YODA!!! :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:

teach-yoda.gif

She goes into 6th in the FS, and 5th overall.

Awwww. Iida KARHUNEN (FIN) dressed up as Freddie Mercury, skating to "Bohemian Rhapsody".

And then when the results area picture goes full-screen, we see she has got an anthropomorphic rabbit doll dressed up in the same costume!

Deserved new leader of the FS (by about 15 points) and overall (by about 20 points).

CaroLiza_fan

Awwww again. Marta Helena PRANGEL (EST) has a toddler sitting with her and her coach.

She goes into 4th in the FS, and 3rd overall.

CaroLiza_fan

I am.little bit late. Other Finnish girls seem to have 0.01 point difference after sp.

I saw Iida yesterday. She falled her combo and had troubles in axel and finally got also time violation deduction. Redemption skate today. The bunny is hers, she has it always with her. Maybe given by somebody? The girl sitting with Iida was Laura, her sister and former national team skater. Laura is going to be a dentist in the future according her ig account.

And now that the resurfacing is on, it is time for me to leave for food.

I hope to be back in time to catch up on my kid Chiara at least before the stream stops broadcasting and goes private.

All the best to all the skaters that are yet to go.

Since I will be busy eating at the time, I will add this in now as well:

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CHIARA!!! :cheer:

Playing catch-up, so this doesn't relate to what is happening LIVE.

Well, they didn't go out onto the ice in order anyway, because Chiara is first to skate but was last to go through the gate. And the camera cut away just as she was coming around to give her skate guards to Ina. They didn't want any embarassing moments like yesterday!

Erm, I saw Chiara setting up lots of jumps, but they were all done out of camera shot!

There was one that would have been in shot, but she changed her mind at the last moment and didn't do it.

Right, here she is.

Lovely combination to start with.

Wasn't sure she was going to land the Triple Toe but she did.

Actually, felt same about the Triple Salchow .

Two Double Axels in sequence, not great landing on second one.

Combo spin good.

Hand down on Triple Lutz.

Didn't land straight enough on first part of combo, which carried through to the next part and she ended up nearly falling at the end.

Triple Flip lovely.

Rest good.

Didn't look too happy after she finished.

Stream cut out during the highlights. So didn't see her reaction to her scores.

But, I've just worked out that she went into 8th in the FS, and 6th overall.

Now I understand why she wasn't happy looking.

But, I'm sure it'll go better next time.

After two days of Singles skating, the first half of Day 3 is all about the Dancers. TEN competitions in a row! And I really like the way they are scheduled. For each level, we have the Ice Dancers followed immediately by the Solo Dancers.

You know I hate the way that a lot of events have each level doing their PD1 and PD2 back-to-back. Well here, we have all the Novices doing their Pattern Dance 1 segments; then we have the Junior Short Dance segments; then we have all the Novices doing their Pattern Dance 2 segments.

Anyway, we start with the Basic Novices. A group of 3 Ice Dance partnerships; followed by a group of 5 Solo Dancers.

Livestream for Basic Novice Pattern Dance 1 competitions is now on air.

I have no idea why proceedings are starting 12 minutes later than scheduled. All three partnerships in this opening competition are present and correct, so it was not delayed because of withdrawals. Unless the organisers decided to delay the start due to withdrawals in some of the later competitions. But, that's taking a big chance on everything running smoothly. If there are unexpected delays (wrong music, technical problems, etc.), things could end up running way behind schedule.
