According to the practice music rotation sheet just posted on event page, Skate Canada is sending 8 Jr Men and 8 Jr Women (all on NextGen team), as well as 4 Novice boys and 3 Novice girls (including Lia Cho) to compete at Cranberry Cup in Boston next Week!!! Too bad there's no livestream from US events.:(
So Anthony must be going there instead of CQE, makes sense. It'd be better for him to compete his Junior program there instead of the Senior version domestically.

David Shteyngart, Edward Vasii and Vladimir Furman are entered for CQE for the Junior Men. Stavrina Arantis, Sandrine Blais, Michelle Lee and Megane Vallieres are entered for the Junior Women there. So they aren't going to be at Cranberry Cup.

looks like David Shteyngart and Michelle Lee on the entries list for both events?

Robert Brodie interviews Piper/Paul:

“In the context of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, we really found in doing the research, the quality of the music and recording and all of that changes so much over that time. The ’70s music is just better recorded and sounds so much fuller. I think you’re going to see a lot of teams go with the ’70s because it’s better recorded and it’s just more familiar to the general audience, and all of us just generally know (more) about the music from the ’70s,” he said. “With the rhythm dance, it’s just finding a balance between doing something familiar and doing something a little bit unexpected, but not so unexpected that people think that does not fit the theme … so really wanted to give it a lot of thought to make sure that we worked on something that we found really interesting and met the criteria.”

He also expresses his opinions on the CAS decision at the end.

What's happening with Edward Vasii? Is he not completely fit yet after his injury, or is he out of favour with your Fed? He was passed over in the initial JGP allocations, despite being on the podium, in favour of the person who finished 4th. He also has not been selected for the Cranberry Cup despite most of your Next Gen skaters being sent there. Looking from outside, it seems a bit odd.

Cranberry Cup is treated as a summer competition instead of an international by Skate Canada, like Lake Placid Ice Dance International. Skaters need permission to enter, but will have to cover the expenses on their own. The Senior Challenger portion entries are the only ones Skate Canada is listing on the Events page since those skaters were assigned by them. Skate Canada will count any medals won by the Juniors in their medal count and feature it on social media though 😉

Edward entered CQE, which is the same weekend as Cranberry Cup. Maybe he wanted to do a more local competition first since he was out last season. For JGP assignments, they may not want to go straight down in order.

I think Edward needs a bit more time. He is not 100% confident yet. I prefer the local, slower approach. I wouldn't want my new "son" to get another injury.

I've just started watching the women's short from the weekend's Wild Rose event. Lariko is going to hate me saying this, but Uliana really is quite weak still with regard to skating skills and performance skills. I had expected more improvement given her potential. I think she would benefit from working with an ice dance coach to address those areas of her skating. Yes, she has the technical elements - but international judges are going to hammer her on the PCS score. I really think she would benefit from another season in Juniors to develop that side of her skating. If you compare her to 'good TES, weak PCS' seniors such as Lorine Schild and Sarina Joos, she is quite a ways behind them still.

I noticed on the latest entry list for Souvenir Georges-Ethier (here) that Martina Ariano Kent is entered for Junior Women. She previously placed 5th at 2023 Novice Nationals.

There were rumours of an injury affecting Kent/Laurent. Is she competing in singles whilst he is recovering, to maintain her competition sharpness? Or, have they split?

Back to Wild Rose... I really wish there was some way of magicking more confidence across to Rose Theroux. She is a lovely skater but seems to lack the confidence needed to perform to her best in competitions.

No idea, they're still on the TES listings so Skate Canada haven't removed them from that yet. It's just another puzzle piece for figuring out what's going on with Junior Pairs :(

I think she's dealing with an injury, she didn't have a Flip or Lutz in her jump layouts at all. It could change when she competes at BC Summerskate later this month..

Although prob not nice to say but I do hope it is an injury Rose is dealing with. She showed good promise a few years ago but she has not progressed since. I like her skating.

Has Maddie Schizas been injured? I'm a bit surprised at her SP score and placement in the Cranberry Cup. You have novice skaters who scored higher at Next Gen (which did not seem generous with marks) than she has today. From the protocol, it looks like the problems were on the jumps.

No information on any possible injuries, but she landed a clean 3Lz+3T like 3 weeks ago at Sate Detroit, so I would guess no.

She's changed her jump layout so that her 3Lo is backloaded now instead of the 2A, I think that may be part of it.

Let's hope today's just a blip then. She has lots of potential but never really found her form last season. She is lucky that Canadian seniors is a weak pool at the moment. It looks like there are other Canadian skaters on the verge of overtaking Maddie, but fortunately for her they aren't senior eligible internationally.

The problem has not just been a blip today. I don't believe she landed a clean short last season at all. She seems to be regressing.
