2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

I check Ice Partner Search from time to time, so this really just was a coincidence 😅

They definitely had a lot of potential, hope both of them will find suitable partners soon enough.

I feel like Behnke/Sauve have also split, as both Annika and Kole are entered as singles skaters in multiple competitions now, but not as a pairs team. I'd also be sad if this was the case, but I guess that's the fate of following Junior and Novice pairs (and ice dance) - Most teams inevitably split up 😔

Two of the teams missing from NextGen having split is also doing nothing good for my anxiety about Martina and Charly and Ava and Yohnatan missing too 🫠 Ava and Yohnatan have at least competed already this season, but there's absolutely no info about MarLy 🙃
I'd be surprised about MarLy split. Ava and Yoni are also scheduled to compete again, at CQE. I fear MarLy have an injury because I don't remember seeing them on any entry list... Maybe @saine has better memory.

Beau and Christophe are indeed very good. Age difference may have been a factor, not in terms of competitions but in terms of getting along or something like that. Beau is such a star... I hope they are both continuing and will find appropriate partners.

But yeah, this is why I have mixed feelings about following juniors. Sometimes, they are promising and their senior career goes flat (my Conrad)... sometimes they are superstars and get injured (Nam, Gogo). For pairs and dance, split galore it is...

The thing that reassures me is that these young skaters do not need to make social media posts about their careers. I prefer that. Yes, I'd like to know everything lol, but I am relieved that the culture is not yet at the point where every single junior pair/dance skater feels like making these announcements publicly. That is a big relief for me.

a fan account of them on Instagram said they might miss the first half of the season and come back for Nationals, but they didn't say the reason why
sounds like injury.. let's not forget the problems they had just after their JGP season... they were on recovery in the second half.

That sounds suspiciously like a pretty substantial injury 🥲 I can't really think of much else that would keep someone out of competition for at least half a year, possibly even longer

@4everchan , I haven't seen them on any entry list yet. From the other posts, it does sound like injury.

JGP Riga entries are due today, so hopefully there will be some answers next week for Ava/Yoni at least.

I thought Kaiya was Alberta? Doesn't she skate out of Calgary?
She's still listed for Calalta and Alberta section, she could be spending time in Toronto and this one would be more convenient for her than Wild Rose :)

Ah. For some reason I thought that Skate Ontario was a qualifier for Ontario skaters. Thinking about it, Kaiya presumably has a bye to nationals anyways - so I clearly hadn't thought properly! :ROFLMAO:

Skaters can get qualifying scores for Ontario sectionals there, so it is a qualifier :)

Skaters from other sections can compete as guest skaters with permission if it's more convenient based on training location though. Sales/Wamsteeker competed in Ontario last November when their home section is BC since they train there.

Can I just say how great Anthony looked at Next Gen? His triple jumps (and especially the 3+3) are looking so much better and more comfortable than last season, and his opening axel pop looked to be a 3A (and then he popped a 2A right after but that's July things ). Even his spins are very high-quality, especially for a junior. I'm really excited to see what he can do this season!

Very happy David Bondar got assigned to Ostrava :hap10:

...Pairs though, I hope Kemp/Elizarov are okay. They're still on the start order for CQE, but so is Callahan/Roch 😕

(edited to also correct the spelling error from the page)

I am surprised that Grayson Long has been given a spot already. I thought he was disappointing at Next Gen - at least compared to what he is capable of - and he had underperformed at Nationals as well. It clearly hasn't been based on Next Gen, as Edward Vasii placed above him but does not have a spot. Perhaps they want Edward to prove that he has recovered from his injury before assigning him to any international events.

I'm pleased to see Quattrocchi and Desmarais. They are clearly inexperienced, but I thought they looked promising. Skate Canada needs to send them out for them to gain experience.
